[Ensemble Cast] Star Banquet Ceremony

The real world was nearing its end. All things were withering, and ruins lay everywhere. At the same time, for unknown reasons, humanity's genetic chains collapsed worldwide. Almost everyone developed a so-called "defect" known as an ability, while only a handful of "lucky ones" escaped unscathed.

Meanwhile, the gods appeared out of nowhere, bringing a game System with them.

From then on, the gods were no longer myths. All earthly beings did everything they could just to earn the gods' favor.

There was no need to study or innovate. One fleeting moment of a god's interest was enough to grant you everything.

The entire System ultimately revolved around just one competition.

"The Star Banquet Rite"

A game for all people, held by the gods once every ten years.

The victors enter the divine temple and meet the saints. They may receive a blessing from the god they choose to worship, or become that god's servant.

Alternatively, they may ask a god to grant them one request. Naturally, that request must fall within the limits of human capability.

Those who have never asked a god for anything... may take up the position of a new god.

PS: If you happen to see any familiar names in this story (though that's unlikely), don't panic. They're characters from other stories the author once started and never finished. While writing this, the author drafted them into service to fill in those plot holes.

PPS: This story was heavily influenced by The End of Dawn by the great author Liming Jintou. If anything accidentally overlaps, I sincerely apologize (bows). Also, this author's work is really good!

Theme: Civilization and freedom can only be created and won through our own efforts
