He Always Forgets He’s a Ghost

Deadpan, listless genius boy (bottom) x natural, domestic ghost (top) Shanhai No. 2 High School takes its name from The Classic of Mountains and Seas, and its students live up to the name. As a training center for people with special abilities, Shanhai Academy is a place where you might encounter real-life examples of any race you'd only expect to find in novels. As one of the school's few human students, Duan Lichen only wants to live a lazy, carefree life. Unfortunately, a ghost latched onto him and disrupted his energy-saving routine. For example: Yin Chenyuan floated around with a rainbow-colored scarf in his hand, looking utterly ridiculous. "Come on, old man, let's go have some fun!" Duan Lichen: "This is a meaningless waste of life." The other retorted, "I'm not even alive!" Duan Lichen chose to bury himself under the covers. "...So now you remember you're a ghost." With the school on the verge of collapse, Duan Lichen donned ceremonial priestly robes and performed a soul-guiding dance, sending tens of thousands of evil spirits across to the other shore. He embraced the black-haired, rampaging evil spirit. The priest, without joy or sorrow, leaned close to his ear, speaking with casual indifference. "How did you forget again... that you're a ghost?" After it was all over, Duan Lichen accepted an interview from the author with an expressionless face. "Thanks for the invite. I originally just wanted to be a listless, deadpan genius, but somehow I ended up on the path to saving the world." Probably a silly, sweet supernatural campus story.
