Something Seems Off About Hagiwara’s System

[Main story complete] Please read the notes below before starting. Thank you. Prosecco was injured while carrying out an assignment for the Organization, passed out in an alley, and got bound to a wish-granting System. A curly-haired police officer on his way home from work rescued him, looking completely disbelieving. The System told him that his world was a manga, and that he was the childhood friend of a popular character who had died young, only to have his beloved die even younger. And that beloved was the curly-haired police officer who had rescued him. Hagi, who had lost his memory ever since being rescued by an Organization member four years ago, dealt with the curly-haired officer's relentless pursuit while repeatedly checking excerpts from the "original story" in the System's beginner's guide. For some reason, he kept feeling that the plot excerpts from the original story didn't quite match the manga plot described by the System or the discussions on the System forum. Weren't he and the curly-haired guy childhood friends? Why were they so lovey-dovey in the "original story" that it gave him a headache? Eating and sleeping together was understandable, but sharing a bed and a toothbrush was going too far, wasn't it? And why did all the characters in the "original story" have to flirt and pair up with people of every gender for no apparent reason? But those plot points really did happen at the times they were supposed to, so he had to set aside his urge to watch the drama (not) and his doubts for the moment, and go save the curly-haired officer, who was supposed to die on the Ferris wheel. But when it came to the death of another friend from his police academy days, he looked at the "original story" excerpts and slowly widened his eyes. His direct superior and his mixed-race classmate having a rooftop tryst, the silver-haired killer and the undercover FBI agent "going at it" in a stairwell, while he waited downstairs to rescue them and was busy fooling around with the curly-haired guy... What the hell was this "free gift" for saving his childhood friend? "Are you really a legitimate System? Is this really the original story? And this original story is actually a nationally beloved detective manga?" He began to doubt the System's confident claim that this was a "30-year-long serialized children's manga." "Could the original world actually be based on some kind of adult manga?" The utterly confused System was granted permission to view his Host's beginner's gift and finally understood why the Host so often looked at it strangely while they seemed to be talking at cross purposes. "Wait, who put the fanfiction in the original manga folder?!" "He came through blood and fire. He emerged beneath the moonlight. He is the boundary between light and darkness, the evening bell and morning chime, the hand that ushers in the dawn." "Through the dark years that drift along the river of time, he may forget everything that saved him, but he will never forget that person's warm hand." "And in the end, the nameless hero will be saved by everything he once saved." Prosecco: "H-help, stop reading! I'm not that chuunibyou! What kind of legitimate System writes fanfiction like this for its Host? Your System's got something wrong with it!" [Reading Guide] · This story has a happy ending. · No secondary couples besides HagiMatsu and the canon couples. · The fanfiction in the System contains a chaotic mix of pairings. It's really melodramatic, but don't take it seriously. · Please don't attack the characters. [Content Warning] An original character from another work by the author appears in this story, as the boss of the Organization. In the other work, this character has a romantic storyline with characters from Detective Conan. There is no romance between this character and any of the characters in this story, but they appear from time to time as the boss and remain part of the story through the ending. Reader comments have indicated that some people are bothered by this, so I'm giving you a heads-up in advance. A preview of an upcoming story After Picking Up the Shrunken Boss of the Organization The blond Bourbon is a Public Security agent undercover in a criminal organization. He diligently juggles a thousand different faces and is currently doing an excellent job cosplaying as Vermouth and playing at being mysterious. Under the alias Amuro-san, he works at a restaurant downstairs from a detective agency as Beika's handsomest waiter, while also moonlighting as Sleeping Kogoro's senior disciple. Although his childhood friend and several of his classmates often campaign for him in the "Beika's Most Eligible Man" contest, leaving him to deal with girls who flock to see him, his undercover life is otherwise not too difficult. He just has two problems at the moment. First, the little dog "Haro" he picked up has gotten so fat that it's become unacceptable to a disciplined undercover agent. Second, the child "Kazuki" he picked up denies sneaking extra food to the dog. Oh, speaking of the child he brought home, he thought, perhaps there's a third problem. He discovered that the child was not only the boss of the criminal organization he had always wanted to arrest, but also seemed to have designs on him. Reading notes: · Karasuma Kazuki x the blond undercover agent, happy ending · He raises the child at first, and the romance comes later. Young Kazuki is a max-level kid with a bit of a scheming streak · A sweet story where everyone survives (so they say) · Some details of the original plot are my own; all OOC is on me · No problematic tendencies · A crossover with a little Bungou Stray Dogs, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., and Jujutsu Kaisen, possibly more Premise: Love is the purest form of salvation
