My Childhood Friends in the Detective Conan World Are a Four-Man Team

The crossover means Detective Conan + Magic Kaito, with no other worlds. Please read the notes below the blurb before starting. This story will be available to purchase from September 23, 2023. Thanks for supporting the official release! Blurb: This is how Jiuli would describe himself: His family has a little money, so he never goes hungry or lacks for clothes. He has a bit of a mind-reading ability, so no one can fool him. Using his power, he became the king of the kids in the Sakura Class at Mihua Kindergarten, and won over two little sidekicks, angelic Ran and the heiress Sonoko. That is, until some brat transferred in. Shinichi: If I have to make a friend, I want someone I can talk to about Sherlock Holmes. Jiuli: Speaking of Sherlock Holmes… Shinichi: Acquired! After two years of elementary school, Jiuli Musen parted ways with his three little sidekicks. At his new school, he met another Shinichi. The other boy refused to admit it and said his name was Kaito. Kaito: If I have to make a friend, I want someone I can talk to about magic. Jiuli: Speaking of magic… Kaito: Acquired! And Aoko comes as a bonus. In junior high, Jiuli Musen parted ways with his five little sidekicks and transferred to a junior high school in Osaka, Kansai, where he met a dark-skinned version of Shinichi. The other boy refused to admit it and said his name was Heiji. Heiji: If I have to make a friend, I want someone I can talk to about Ellery Queen. Jiuli: Speaking of Ellery Queen… Heiji: Acquired! And Kazuha comes as a bonus. By then, Jiuli counted seven little sidekicks on his fingers. He also won over a little sidekick named Hakuba while visiting his grandmother in England during the holidays, along with an eagle called Watson. Then one day, all his little sidekicks from far and wide ran into each other… Jiuli: Do you really have to fight tooth and nail for the title of First Underling? The eight of them: Jiuli Musen! Which one of us is your childhood friend, anyway? Blurb screenshot: January 7, 2023 Here’s a summary of things that some readers might find troubling. Please take a look before reading, I’m begging you~ ① His mind-reading ability grows along with the male lead. When he’s young, overusing it can make him drowsy or even pass out, but he’ll recover as he grows up. I won’t use this to make readers feel sorry for him, and there won’t be angst, but there are scenes where his childhood friends worry about him and fuss over him too much. (I don’t think that counts as making readers feel sorry for him, but I’m not sure. If it does, then I’ll only promise there won’t be angst.) ② Later on, his mind-reading ability can be used to control people. How long it lasts depends on the target’s mental strength, but it will work at least once. That means members of the Black Organization, like Gin and Vermouth, could also be controlled. Please steer clear if that’s not for you. ③ Since the Detective Conan and Magic Kaito worlds have merged, magic exists in this world. Akako Koizumi’s constitution, which makes every man in the world fall in love with her, will be greatly weakened. People like Kudo, Hattori, and Amuro won’t be bewitched, and neither will Saguru Hakuba. ④ Everyone’s relationships are platonic. ShinRan, Heiji and Kazuha, and KaiAo are not endgame couples. (The reason is that the protagonist can read minds and is a kind person. If he knew someone had a crush, he’d set them up, but I don’t want to write matchmaking scenes, so their relationships will stay platonic.) ⑤ The police academy group will be saved. ⑥ After Kogoro and Eri Kisaki separate, Ran will live with Eri Kisaki and occasionally visit Kogoro to look after him. ⑦ I’ll do my best to keep everyone in character, but I’m not the original author, so my understanding of their personalities can’t be 100% accurate. ⑧ If you’re uncomfortable, please leave right away. No need to tell me. (Fist bump.) Please don’t give me writing advice. No matter how much advice I get, this is as good as I get. I can’t improve, really can’t. (Rose.) The characters’ and cases’ views do not represent the author’s views. Don’t bring up other stories in the comments here, and don’t mention this story in the comments of other works.
