I Somehow Guessed the Protagonist Wrong Again

[This story will switch to a reversed premium model starting from Chapter 28 on 11/28. There’ll be a 10,000-word update on launch day. Thank you all for your support!] Furukawa Kyoya, a ghost who has been dead for two years, gets bound to a system one day. System: Ta-da! If you can guess who the Chosen One of this world is and help them defeat the forces of evil, Host, your wish will come true! Furukawa: Got it! Furukawa: Hey, System, doesn’t Hiromitsu seem so much like a protagonist? He’s kind, considerate, generous, has a brilliant older brother, and is surrounded by reliable friends! System: Hmm… sounds more like the second male lead (thinking). Wouldn’t Furuya seem more like the protagonist? Furukawa: This isn’t some cheesy romance. The protagonist should be the right choice. System: You make a good point! (suddenly enlightened) One day, the rookie System finally receives the script that was sent late. Its title is “Detective Conan.” System: ??? By then, Host has long since decided that the Police Academy crew are the protagonists. He’s become like a brother to them and is even plotting how to bring down the evil forces at the liquor company. System: …Host, here’s a hint: the protagonist is a child. Furukawa: Huh? Then it must be little Mitsuhiko! Everyone loves a protagonist who grows up! System: That’s completely wrong, come on! Notes: 1. The protagonist is firmly on the good side, with no secret identity or undercover plotline. 2. The protagonist is dead, a ghost, and wants to find out who killed him. 3. The protagonist makes his own dark jokes, such as taking his head off. The Police Academy crew will learn he’s dead. 4. The Morizuka case won’t happen because the protagonist intervenes. He becomes childhood friends with Morofushi and Furuya. 5. The story begins when Hiromitsu is in elementary school. The police academy storyline comes later. 6. The Police Academy crew will die, along with some other characters the author likes. Be warned. 7. The characters reflect the author’s personal interpretations, with lots of author-created details. There are original cases that may contain plot holes, so be warned. [Upcoming story blurb: “Did I Make a Mistake Retiring in Beika?”] Protagonist: I wake up and my house is about to get blown sky-high (leans back tactically). Protagonist: Retiring in Beika really gives me something to look forward to! Protagonist: My action-packed life in Beika: when the house catches fire, it’s action-packed in the literal sense! After clearing the endless rounds of a system-run survival game, Mochizuki Kitagawa chooses Beika, in the world of Detective Conan, as his retirement destination. Its safety rating is 6. Protagonist: The max is 10, right? (hesitant) Protagonist: The max is 100??? Protagonist: Six. He thinks that once he gets used to Beika’s frequent explosions and all its various cases, he’ll finally be able to enjoy a quiet retirement. Then his detective agency gets blown up. Protagonist: ? Protagonist: That all-black-clad organization, right? I’m joining the fight right now (draws sword). He feels so bad for the chocolate he just bought for the agency! Aaaaah! The detective leisurely sips his chocolate milk, watches the sparks from a high-rise exploding outside, and sighs: “Ah, now that’s the right flavor.” He knew there was something suspicious about Beika being so peaceful today! 1. A lighthearted story. Come enjoy “100 Ways to Make Chocolate Desserts,” starring our protagonist as the chef (applause). 2. The protagonist is strong but has F-rank luck, and still gets picked on. 3. The protagonist is firmly on the good side, laid-back, and fond of a peaceful life. But after his agency gets blown up, he won’t be quite so fond of peace (?). 4. The protagonist mostly interacts with the two members of the Bomb Disposal Unit and the Detective Boys. 5. The Police Academy crew will die, but the protagonist is barely acquainted with the others. 6. The protagonist is firmly on the good side, with no secret identities or fake deaths. He loves life and has gadgets that defy the laws of the Detective Conan world, so be warned. 7. Other characters may die from time to time. Be warned. 8. The characters reflect the author’s personal interpretations, so be warned about OOC. [Another upcoming story: “Can the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Workaholics Please Take It Easy?”] Protagonist: Back at the academy, the Police Academy Five were all competing to be the biggest workaholic… Protagonist: Now I’m at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. This is where I’ll shine! … Protagonist: Why did the Bomb Disposal Unit defuse fifteen bombs this month, while the First Investigation Division handled sixty cases? Protagonist: Does that make any sense??? 1. The prequel is “Can the Police Academy Workaholics Please Take It Easy?” For the best experience, read it before this story. 2. A lighthearted collection of shorts for a change of mood. Just have fun with this silly, funny story; don’t get hung up on the plot, and don’t expect it to be logical. 3. The protagonist is firmly on the good side, with no secret identities, undercover work, or fake deaths. The Police Academy crew’s deaths happen in the prequel, and they barely appear in the main plot. 4. Curacao will probably die in this story too. The familiar butterfly effect is at work. 5. Lots of familiar Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department officers will appear. Enjoy! 6. The characters reflect the author’s personal interpretations, so be warned about OOC. 7. This story came about because some readers said my stories were too short and left them wanting more. It’s just to prove I can write something longer :( Theme: The pursuit of truth and justice never ends.
