Reminiscing

At the dinner table, someone asked about her ex. Wen Chuyin forced herself to say they’d parted on good terms.

A cold snort suddenly sounded from across the table.

She felt a little guilty and made an excuse to go get food.

As she stood distracted in front of the freezer, a familiar presence drew close. Wen Chuyin nearly dropped her plate.

A broad, warm hand covered the back of hers, steadying it. He Zhi Yu’s voice followed, impossible to read.

“Wen Chuyin, if we broke up on good terms, why are you nervous?”

When he got a drunken call from Wen Chuyin in the middle of the night, He Zhi Yu went to the bar to pick her up.

He was baffled that she’d called him. Their relationship wasn’t the kind where he should be fetching her from a bar in the middle of the night.

When the bartender questioned who he was, he couldn’t be bothered to explain. Right in front of him, he opened his call history and called her back.

Wen Chuyin’s phone, left on the bar, lit up. He glanced down, and his brow twitched.

The caller ID said:
