[Main story complete]
The Matchmaking God cultivates by bringing people together, while the God of Fate cultivates by writing romance stories.
One day, the two immortals got together for a chat, and somehow the conversation turned to the God of War.
The Matchmaking God said, “The God of War is the master of battle. Who in this world could take her life?”
The God of Fate said, “If I dropped her into one of my deadly stories, I reckon she’d have less than a tenth of her divine power. Then, with love, revenge, and every other kind of killing, I’d find a way to finish her off!!!”
The unscrupulous Wind God happened to be passing by. With a flick of his sleeve, he sent those bold words straight to the God of War.
The God of War arrived in an instant and grabbed the God of Fate by the crown of his head. “Gossiping behind my back is no fun. How about you and I make a wager?”
The God of Fate’s eyes immediately blazed with defiance. “You’re on!”
And so, a wisp of divine consciousness entered the Book of Fate, defying heaven to change destiny and escape a deadly trap!
First life: Beautiful women have always been fated to die young. A pearl diver meets her end at a sea-sacrifice ceremony.
The God of Fate put his hands on his hips. “Mwahahaha! I’ll have you feeding the turtles from the start!!!”
The Matchmaking God couldn’t bear to watch. “You’ve tied up the God of War way too tightly.”
In the Book of Fate, the pearl-diving God of War was bound like a mummy, yet still managed to outdo a merfolk in swimming, rage-swim nine thousand meters, make it ashore, and report the crime. Her death calamity was broken!
The county magistrate nearly climbed right over his desk in shock. “How did you swim all the way here???”
The pearl diver had had her eardrums pierced as a child and was hard of hearing. “My lord, what did you say about a frying pan???”
[Brash, lively pearl diver X sly county magistrate with a heart full of holes]
Second life: The devoted are always betrayed by the faithless. A top scholar hires an assassin to kill his butcher wife.
The God of Fate whined, “I insist on making you do the filthiest work, so you end up raising an ungrateful wretch who hires someone to kill you!!!”
The Matchmaking God couldn’t stop him in time. “Y-you do realize the God of War can make even a nail file dance through the air, right? You’ve given her a butcher’s knife. What’s the difference between that and a Dragon-Slaying Saber?!”
In the Book of Fate, the butcher God of War sharpened her knife until it gleamed, then discussed things with the top scholar. “I’ve decided to become a demon hunter. I’ll slay the nastiest demons, collect the biggest rewards, and buy you the finest brushes, ink, paper, and inkstone!”
The top scholar: “…”
Whoever has the tougher life can be the faithless one!
“My wife~” The top scholar leaned against the doorframe, baring his shoulder. “The bed is all warmed up. Come on~”
But his wife, busy sharpening her knife, merely glanced at him and said stiffly, “Go back to your room first. And put your clothes on. You’ll catch a chill.”
[Unromantic butcher woman X charming, flirtatious top scholar]
Third life: Frail and sickly, with little time left. A fortune-teller predicts death at seventeen.
The God of Fate sneered. “Birth, aging, sickness, and death are only natural. The God of War can just endure this sickly body.”
The Matchmaking God was speechless. “Did I forget to tell you… the God of War has a huge health bar?”
In the Book of Fate, the ailing God of War had a health bar that seemed ready to hit zero at any moment, yet still fought the barbarians, killed ghost-men, and even dealt with her father’s secret schemes to do something big.
The brilliant diviner, who fell for her at first sight and would give his life for her at second, couldn’t even bring himself to confess.
The young lady made the decision for him. “We’re getting married!”
[Sickly young lady who believes in everything but fate X shameless diviner whose only wrong prediction in his life is his own]
Fourth life: Born a demon seed, condemned by all.
The God of Fate steeled himself. “Just wait while I summon everyone in the world, huh?!”
The Matchmaking God beat his chest in frustration. “Did I forget to tell you again? The God of War has magic resistance!”
In the Book of Fate, the God of War seemed to have a split personality, arguing with the demon seed in her mind from time to time. And because she bore the prohibition “Fear harming even the lowliest creature,” she was struck by lightning every day.
The human emperor was trapped by circumstance, and so desperate to fall into demonhood that he’d lost his mind. The moment he saw the God of War, he rushed over to kiss her. “Demon Lord, share some of your demonic energy with me.”
The God of War slapped him off a cliff. “Hey! Don’t shake my resolve to suppress my demonic energy!”
[Upright, split-personality Demon Lord God of War X sickly, feverish human emperor]
When the God of War returned from her trials, she discovered that the county magistrate, the top scholar, the diviner, and the human emperor had all, to some extent, been molded by the Wind God’s mischievous meddling.
The Wind God looked away. “Well… I just didn’t like seeing the God of Fate show off his little book and mess with people’s destinies.”
The Matchmaking God sighed, his words carrying a double meaning. “The Wind God is the real champion of true love.”
The God of Fate clutched a pile of scraps and sobbed. “My Book of Fate! (T ^ T)”
Coming soon: Zen and the Consumption of Evil
Heaven shows no mercy, and the earth offers no cycle of reincarnation.
The mortal world is in chaos, overrun by monsters.
A Xian is one of the forbidden Consume-Evil clan, who feed on human malice. One day, she runs right into a walking “granary,” and drool instantly spills from her mouth.
Wugou is the holy son of the Chan sect, righteous to the core. Even when faced with Miss A Xian drooling at him, he simply offers her a handkerchief and says, eyes lowered, “Wipe your mouth.”
But after wiping away her drool, the girl sticks by his side and refuses to leave.
Later, Wugou finally loses patience. His ears red, he says, “A Xian… even if I really am a feast for the eyes, isn’t suddenly burying your face in my chest a bit much?”
Completely absorbed in “eating,” A Xian pulls away and lets out a satisfied burp. “Holy Son, someone just said you’re as beautiful as a woman. You don’t have to go and gouge out their eyes, do you?”
Wugou, his true intentions exposed, immediately sheds his innocent disguise. He lifts A Xian’s chin with a fingertip, his gaze as dark as a deep pool. “That blind man also said you’re too ugly to stand beside me and an eyesore. Since you bother his eyes so much, I might as well help him out.”
A Xian: “…”
No wonder your malice is thick enough to make sesame paste.
[A kindhearted “beauty” who vacuums up malice X two-faced holy son who wants to destroy the world every day]
Theme: People can overcome fate!
It's been a while since I clicked on a book and looked at the home page. My wife actually set up a lottery [covering my face and peeking], yay 🌈
I feel like I've gained weight due to stress and internal friction 🙏
