Third-Rate Detective, Supernatural Sleuthing

[My Upcoming Works: Undercover at Police Academy: A Workplace Crisis; An Ordinary Resident Passing Through Beika Town. Blurbs at the very bottom~] My name is Chuanhui Lizi, a third-rate detective who has been in the business for years. My supernatural ability is fortune-telling for other people. “Sir, your complexion is rosy with a hint of purple. A classic face for someone who’s come into a sudden windfall. Come clean! How much life insurance did you take out on the deceased? Was it more than I could save in ten years without eating or drinking? How infuriating! Off to the station with you!” Deduction is out of the question. I can only scrape by with a bit of occult know-how. But times are changing, and people’s hearts are no longer what they used to be. The increasingly fierce competition in my industry weighs on my frail shoulders like a mountain, leaving me unable to breathe. Out of sheer necessity, I have no choice but to embark on the difficult road to becoming a first-rate detective. I heard that a fellow in Yokohama had reached the peak of his career right from the start and was widely recognized in the industry as a famous detective. Not a “detective,” but a “famous detective.” Damn it, why does being completely outshone feel so awful? I can’t accept this! While I was struggling to make ends meet by handing out flyers on the street, someone stole my business by paying for promotional articles to hype himself up! How devious! I’ve decided to head to Yokohama and shatter the illusion myself. * “An idiot is an idiot. You can’t even deduce something as simple as the fact that the famous detective likes you.” “Why not just stop thinking and do as I say?” CP: Ranpo. Upcoming Work One: Undercover at Police Academy: A Workplace Crisis Asasa Yui has a secret. No one knows that she made it into the police academy as a mole sent by the Black Organization to infiltrate the police. She worked hard and studied by candlelight, finally scraping into the police academy without letting Big Brother down! The first lesson after enrollment: unarmed combat. Lying in a hospital bed, intelligence operative Asasa Yui came to understand all too well the pain of being in the wrong line of work. A distillery employee never gives up! Asasa Yui promptly became a disciple of the top student in her year, Furuya, to learn from him. After six months at the academy, the five members of her class, five absolute powerhouses and one total liability, finally dragged Asasa Yui across the finish line to graduation. Furuya: Every single person here is responsible for your graduating. The top student at the academy worried about the future of society, while the two members of the bomb squad vowed to keep Asasa Yui right under their noses. Watching her classmates fret over her, Asasa Yui was deeply moved: she had done such an outstanding job as a mole! When would the distillery give her a raise? If they didn’t increase her pay soon, the organization was going to lose her :) One day, Asasa Yui finally received a summons from Big Brother. At the meeting place, she saw two incredibly familiar faces. The faces of the classmates she had spent six months with at the police academy. Furuya: You’re here undercover too? (whispering) Yui: You might not believe this, but going back to the distillery feels like coming home. CP: Bourbon. A Real Liquor Employee’s Workplace Crisis Challenge! How Do I Save You, My Diluted Liquor Distillery, My Former Employer? Upcoming Work Two: An Ordinary Resident Passing Through Beika Town Her name is Fan An, an utterly ordinary resident of Beika Town and a professional actor. Her main job is to show up at various murder scenes and play one of the three baffling suspects for the detectives to choose from. Detective Mouri: You’re suspicious, incredibly suspicious! The fact that you committed the crime is written right in your name! Suspect An: Punished for the pun, please. That’s just how it is for Beika Town residents. You have to pick an identity: detective, victim, or suspect. “Suspect An” has a much better chance of making it out of court than “Victim An,” so she’s quite content. The only downside is, why do detectives get paid for solving cases, while she gets no consolation prize despite being wrongly arrested every single time? The blond waiter at Café Poirot, who had watched someone skirt arrest every day, looked at her with sympathy. “This meal’s on me. It’s free.” Her: Hooray! Maybe she could keep playing for sympathy and living off kind people’s charity until retirement Just kidding. She’s a working adult with a proper job. An is a specialist in playing villains in movies and TV dramas. Whether she’s playing a suspect or a scapegoat, she does it so convincingly that no one can tell it’s an act. Top-tier star Sharon praises her: “She has the sort of air that says she’ll escape the law no matter what.” Liquor is jealous. An modestly replies: “You flatter me. My experience comes from real life.” She gets out among ordinary people and into society, taking on all sorts of part-time jobs to hone her acting skills. For example: “Simple pickup work, 30,000 a day. Night shifts. Basic firearms knowledge required. Applicants who can disappear without anyone noticing preferred.” Or: “Ordinary installation work, 50,000 a day. Must be fine with bright lights and loud noise, and have no heart condition. Those with no idea what justice is are especially welcome.” Fan An, an ordinary resident passing through Beika Town, simply passes by a crime scene like an ordinary person. The blond, dark-skinned public security officer who passes her suddenly turns around: ??? CP: Toru Theme: Always stay optimistic and hopeful
