It's Science, Not Superpowers!

Overnight, the facilities and staff inside five utterly ordinary black buildings in central Tokyo were suddenly replaced.

After realizing the Port Mafia had transmigrated to a world without supernatural abilities, Boss Mori said gravely at a meeting, "We must do our best to conceal the existence of supernatural abilities."

The others looked at one another and nodded hesitantly.

Just as the disheveled doctor was about to be strapped to a bomb, a blond little girl who'd been crying suddenly flew into the air and pulled out a giant syringe.

Conan, about to kick a soccer ball to save him, stared in shock. "This has to be technology that lets people fly, along with some kind of compression device."

Boss Mori, who had just broken his own rule, said nonchalantly, "Exactly."

When a criminal shot at a woman in a kimono, a sword-wielding female doll suddenly appeared and sliced the bullet in half.

Amuro, preparing to rescue her, stayed perfectly calm. "This must be projection technology combined with laser cutting."

Ozaki, who'd used her supernatural ability on instinct, kept a straight face. "Right. Just like you said."

Just as the red-haired boy was about to be crushed beneath a collapsing building, he began to glow red all over, and the building floated into the air.

Gin, ready to witness his enemy's death, fell into deep thought.

Vodka's worldview crumbled. "This must be sci... No, Boss, this isn't scientific at all!!!"

Chuuya, the gravity manipulator who couldn't control his instincts, looked flustered. "No, believe me, this is science!"

Bonus skit:

When the black-clad detective eating dessert saw through the truth at a glance:

The other detectives stared in shock. "That's impossible! He must have some kind of special ability!"

Ranpo, the actual non-ability user and a member of the black X Party, looked innocent. "I'm just an ordinary person."

My next upcoming novel:

[Western Crossover] How to Become a Savior

[Want to be a superhero or supervillain? Want to save the world or destroy it? The Huaxia-made game The Sims, with a DC universe as its stage. If you can dream it, you can do it!]

Messiah became interested.

[First playthrough]

Messiah calmly explored the game, certain he'd figured out how to play.

The player chooses to destroy the world.

The ending is inevitable. As an invincible player, Messiah succeeds.

"Why would you do this? What does life mean to you?!"

Faced with Superman's challenge, Messiah merely tilted his head, ignoring the NPC's nonsense.

[Achievement unlocked: World Destroyer

-- Compared to humanity, you are more like a heartless demon.]

[Second playthrough]

Messiah was born in Crime Alley. This time, he wasn't alone. He had a twin brother named Jason.

He chose to become a superhero.

An unnecessary emotion began to stir in Messiah's heart, something warm and weightless.

He didn't understand this feeling, but after his brother died, Messiah decided to hold it tight in his hands and protect it at all costs.

Messiah ruled the Earth. He crushed the resistance led by Batman and created a crime-free world.

When he saw the disappointment in Batman's eyes, Messiah realized that the thing he'd been holding in his hands had disappeared.

[Achievement unlocked: White Tyrant

-- The world is your playground, and you chose to create an Eden.]

[Third playthrough]

Messiah arrived in a very different world.

An unjust Superman, a Batman infected with the Joker virus, Themyscira and Atlantis at war, Nightwing transformed into a vampire king after his death...

"This world is beyond saving."

But Messiah chose to save it.

He restored Metropolis after its nuclear destruction, cured Batman of the Joker virus, awakened the heroic souls of Wonder Woman and Aquaman, turned Nightwing back into a human, and resurrected everyone who had died...

Messiah turned the world around single-handedly, but his hollow heart remained unfilled.

[Achievement unlocked: Saint Sent from Heaven

-- You are the Messiah God sent to this world.]

[Fourth playthrough]

Messiah was born into a noisy, bustling family, with a father who never talked but was trying to learn, siblings who were each more rebellious than the last, a kind grandfather, and a friendly farmer uncle.

He smiled for the first time in his life.

And went on to smile countless times more.

Messiah felt happy.
