Eldritch Dazai Comes from Another World

[Highlight: The two dark-haired best friends were originally intended to have no romantic pairing, but they were so ambiguous that the story edged into pure love.]

Dazai transmigrated into another world.

He came from a world with nothing but "Eternal Night," an otherworld where the rules, species, and perceptions were different from Yokohama's, and strange creatures roamed everywhere.

Tracking the monsters, Dazai crawled out of the perilous "Eternal Night" and into this dazzling parallel world through a black, fang-lined wormhole.

He would kill every last one of those monsters.

All for the sake of his sleeping companion on the altar.

"Good night, Chuuya. Sweet dreams."

"He looks exactly like Mr. Dazai. Could he be Dazai's son?"

"He really does look just like Dazai. He must be his son!"

"Nothing Dazai does would surprise me. A secret illegitimate child wouldn't be impossible."

"What? Dazai has a son?"

"What? Dazai's pregnant?"

"What? Dazai's actually a girl?"

"What, what? Dazai's actually a woman in disguise, pregnant before marriage, and now she's in the medical room giving birth?!"

Armed Detective Agency Dazai: ???

How did such an outrageous rumor even start?

Reader advisory:

* There is no "Don't Starve" plotline. The game world is a personal take with major changes. If you don't know "Don't Starve," don't worry. If something doesn't make sense, tell me and I'll explain it that very day.

* Mild Kezu.

* The original characters behave wildly out of character at times, such as Dazai in Chapter Four.

* The two dark-haired friends of Eternal Night have an ambiguous relationship. Love can also be shared between family and friends, but they were so ambiguous that the story edged into pure love. Feel free to ship them, but please don't bring up top/bottom roles in the comments.

* Happy ending.

* All credit goes to the original work; any OOC belongs to Huanghai. If it upsets you, stop reading. Please don't attribute fanfiction behavior to the original characters, or Huang Dazai's behavior to Huanghai.

* My health issues keep flaring up, so updates are irregular. I won't abandon the story, and will update at least once a month. The main story is complete, and I'm currently updating the after-story.

* Written for love. I welcome suggestions, but not people telling me what to do. Comments mean a lot to me; they're my spiritual sustenance!

* The cover was drawn by Huanghai. Don't you dare call it ugly; it's obviously adorable! (Gestures emphatically.) (I switched to a commissioned cover these past few days because it's so beautiful.)

Theme: Be yourself, hold fast to your heart, and never forget your original intentions.
