After Breaking Up with Furuya

During her second year of college, Mao Ye Huali was dragged by a friend to a mixer with students from the police academy next door. There, she met her future boyfriend. They spent three sweet, wonderful years together. But just before they were about to talk marriage, her boyfriend disappeared. Half a month later, she received an unusual text with just five words: We should break up. It was from the boyfriend who had vanished without a trace. Her friend said she must have met a jerk. He'd disappeared as soon as marriage came up, so he was probably the kind of scumbag who just wanted to have fun and never planned to take responsibility. Thinking about what her boyfriend had been like, Mao Ye Huali felt her friend was wrong. But when his number remained impossible to reach and someone else had moved into his rental apartment, she started to think her friend was right. Then, after returning from a trip to the countryside for a sketching expedition, she found a new blond, dark-skinned employee at the coffee shop she'd bought. Seeing his face, Mao Ye Huali froze. This new employee named Amuro looked so much like her ex-boyfriend. * To investigate the connection between the Mori Detective Agency and Sherry, a member of the Organization, Furuya took the alias Amuro and got a job at a nearby coffee shop. He never expected to run into the girlfriend he'd broken up with years ago. She was the owner of the shop, too. For an instant, he considered leaving right away. But his girlfriend didn't recognize him at all. With a gentle smile, she softly called him by his alias, treating him like a stranger. Furuya Rei's heart raced uncontrollably at that smile once again, but it seemed that in her eyes, his past self was a scumbag who had played with her feelings and disappeared without a word.
