The Right Way to Save the World with a Secret Identity

[Written while getting back into the groove, read with caution] [Check out my upcoming novel, I Became a Background Character in Detective Conan. Blurb below. Please add it to your reading list!] After dying unexpectedly, Mochizuki Yuki bound himself to a System. He could come back to life by using the identity cards provided by the System to complete assigned missions. The identity cards were: [Disgraced God], [Mafia's Previous Successor], and [Heir to a Jujutsu Sorcerer Family]. After completing his missions, Mochizuki Yuki revived in the real world. But before long, the System came back with some bad news. [The player lost an important item, causing the worlds to overlap. Retrieve the item as soon as possible or the world will be destroyed.] To save the world, Mochizuki Yuki had no choice but to don his old secret identities once more. However... The King of Curses, awakened from his slumber, seized his teacher by the throat, murder in his eyes. “You really are still alive, Teacher.” “This time, I'll kill you with my own hands.” Dazai, pulled from the water, pointed a gun at his old friend and asked softly: “Did you enjoy that?” “What kind of game is this time?” The strongest jujutsu sorcerer removed his blindfold and stared with mixed feelings at the young man approaching, surrounded by curses. “Why are you still alive?” “Big Brother.” Before he could save the world, Mochizuki Yuki had to figure out how to keep himself alive. Thanks to Mochizuki Yuki's efforts, an even bigger misunderstanding came about. The King of Curses, abandoned by his own teacher: You went into hibernation on purpose for his sake? The bandage-wearing guy, shut out by his best friend: You wanted to create a world ruled by supernatural abilities for his sake? The strongest, discovering someone else beside his big brother: You wanted to destroy the jujutsu sorcerers for his sake??? You think I won't kill him right now?! Mochizuki Yuki: ... Faced with a terrible reality where something explodes every three days, a robbery happens every other day, and curses rampage through the streets all the time, then looking at the troublemakers around him constantly causing a ruckus, Mochizuki Yuki fell silent for a moment before angrily smashing his bowl. Whoever wants to save this garbage world can do it. I'm done! Reader's guide: 1. Lots of alternate-universe elements. Conan characters are native to this world. 2. The worlds are merged, so some out-of-character moments are unavoidable. I'll do my best. 3. I hope everyone has fun reading =V= [Upcoming novels by friends: The Savior Is on Vacation by Yifeng Yizui, and A Police Academy Squad Fell Out of a Tree by Shuangyue He] I Became a Background Character in Detective Conan Blurb: While eating at a restaurant, Ueno Akimi suddenly saw a scene flash through his mind. In it, he was standing among several masked men, a gun pointed at his forehead. After negotiations with the police failed, he became the first hostage to be killed. Ueno Akimi: ...? A voice told him he was a background character in a certain mystery anime and could get caught up in all kinds of shootings, explosions, kidnappings, and criminal cases at any moment. In five minutes, he would die at the hands of the robbers. There was only one way to stay alive: join the anime's main storyline and get more chances to shine, becoming a popular character. To survive, Ueno Akimi went home and immediately changed his application to the police academy, hoping that the state would train his future self to take on ten men at once. Join the main storyline? No way. Who would willingly do something that exhausting? Among the new police academy recruits this year, one person stood out. He wore a miserable expression every day, would always lie down instead of sit, and collapsed on the spot whenever they were told to rest during training. Just as everyone was wondering how someone like him had passed the physical fitness test, he came first in the class at the end-of-month exam. A new character in a police academy squad spin-off sparks a lively discussion on a manga forum. [I seriously can't stop laughing at Akimi. He's been at the academy for six months and still can't remember his classmates' faces.] [Zero, who missed first place by one point: I'll definitely win next time! Miserable Akimi: ... Huh? Oh, okay. Sorry, who are you?] [Going by this plot, will Akimi join the five-man squad and become the sixth member when they enter the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department?] [Akimi: Stay away from me.] [The five-man squad thinks that after surviving so many life-and-death situations, they're already friends with Akimi. Meanwhile, Akimi is thinking: ... Who's this guy again? What's the name of the one next to him? Why is that blond glaring at me again? Ugh, what a pain.] [Ha, I can picture it.] Ueno Akimi, who had emphatically rejected the main storyline, had no idea he was gradually moving beyond his background-character status. At school, apart from training, he never wasted a single bit of energy. During one incident, he and his fellow recruits accidentally infiltrated an underground organization and became undercover agents, staying there for several years. One day, he received a special order: the organization wanted him to investigate whether a missing high school detective was still alive. Ueno Akimi, who had only remembered the protagonist's name, stared at the report about a guy called Tumble Dryer and fell silent. Theme: What goes around comes around. Heaven lets no one escape.
