Making a Decision That Defies My Ancestors

This is a fictional setting and has nothing to do with reality. Please don't relate it to real life.

Chu Fang has no memories of his life as an insect before the age of sixteen.

The earliest image he can trace back to is of being woken from a nap by the class monitor smacking him, then going out to run drills with blood in his mouth.

Before he became a major general, he always thought he was some kind of special insect, like a bionic insect engineered by the military using the best genes they could find.

Then, as soon as his promotion ceremony ended, an insect came up to claim kinship with him.

"Do you remember him?"

The delicate male insect in front of him held up a photograph. It showed a typical military female in a lieutenant colonel's uniform, with a stern face and resolute eyes. That sharp gaze seemed to pierce right out of the photograph and straight into Chu Fang's restless heart.

"I think he must be the love of my life, even though we've never met."

Chu Fang, his heart aflutter, wiped away his drool.

The delicate male insect let out a sob and cried, "My son, your female parent beat you into losing your memory, so how do you still remember that?"

Chu Fang, who had no idea what was going on: ?

Since Chu Fang has so many relationships, he often gets caught "cheating." The few who think of themselves as his official partners often come over to demand that he break up with the other insects.

"They're old enough to have families and children. What are you doing getting involved with them?"

"Oh, you can't put it like that." Chu Fang said with deep affection, "They're my old babies!"
