Kunlun Jade Shatters, Three Calamities Stir

Based on Kunlun Mountain folklore, The Shattered Kunlun Jade and the Three Calamities is a fantasy tale about the upheaval of the Three Realms after the Zhenyuan Jade Disc is shattered. In ancient times, the divine jade sealed away the remnant soul of the ferocious beast Taotie. After it breaks, demons emerge and the boundary between immortals and mortals teeters on the brink of collapse. The key to reforging the disc, the Heaven-Mending Stone Marrow, lies hidden in a secret realm of Kunlun, guarded for generations by mortal martial artists. While searching for her master, Ling Shushu, a female immortal from Yuxu Palace, discovers that her master's sword is in the hands of Shen Yanzhi, young lord of the Kunlun Martial Alliance. Bound together by a pact between immortals and mortals, the two set out as companions. The alliance's ancestral rule of “blood sacrifice to open the secret realm” conceals the truth of how immortals used mortal blood to forge the jade a thousand years ago. The Bloodshadow Cult, which covets the Stone Marrow, seems intent on awakening Taotie, but in truth it seeks to overturn the old order that keeps immortals and mortals forever apart. Together, Ling Shushu and Shen Yanzhi explore the secret realm, deciphering its mechanisms and ancient formations. By comparing the records of the immortal sects with the martial alliance's family genealogy, they gradually uncover the layers of conspiracy behind the shattered jade. Along the way, Qing Dai, a herb farmer's daughter, joins them and uses her knowledge of the countryside to help them break through their predicament. From the terror of the jade's first shattering to the perilous steps they take toward unity between immortals and mortals, they ultimately reveal the startling truth that “the jade had to break to turn the tide,” composing a legend atop Kunlun's peak about crossing the divide between immortals and mortals to protect all living beings. Blending the graceful spectacle of battles between immortals with the forceful action of martial sects, the story is filled with suspense, love, hatred, and revenge, bringing the mystery and grandeur of Kunlun's secret realm to life.
