The Deification of Yide

The Investiture of Zhang Fei tells the story of Zhang Fei after his murder. His loyal spirit refused to fade, and the Venus Star guided him to the Heavenly Court, where he was appointed “Inspector of the Yin and Yang Realms.” Armed with a divine seal and carrying a Yin-Yang Mirror, he travels between Heaven and Earth, solving long-standing cases in the city of wrongful deaths, vanquishing the fox demon of Feng County, and subduing the night-wailing evil spirit in Luoyang. He even helps Lord Laozi recover stolen immortal pills and exposes a demon monk’s disguise at Leiyin Temple. With steadfast integrity, he protects all living beings, punishes evil and promotes good, while still tempering justice with compassion. He makes a fearsome name for himself in both realms, continuing his legend of loyalty and courage until he becomes the universally recognized embodiment of justice across the Three Realms.
