Qingshi Town, Where Demons and Immortals Live Together

The Immortals and Demons of Qingshi Town tells the love story of the fox immortal Hu Jiuli and the mortal Shen Yanzhi, spanning three lifetimes. Qingshi Town is a paradise where immortals and mortals live side by side. Peach blossoms bloom year after year, concealing an obsession that has endured for three hundred years.

In their first life, he was an immortal official of Kunlun, and she was a fox immortal who had just taken human form. They pledged their love beneath the peach trees, but the divide between immortal and mortal led to their persecution by evil spirits at Duanhun Cliff. He shattered his immortal bones to protect her reincarnation, leaving her only a peach-blossom jade pendant and a mark on her wrist.

In their second life, he was reborn as a mortal and died young. She searched through the cycles of reincarnation, but found only a lonely grave overgrown with grass.

In their third life, he is Shen Yanzhi, a young herb gatherer in Qingshi Town, and she is the embroidery shop owner who has come searching for him. A chance encounter beneath a shower of peach blossoms awakens the bond that spans life and death. The survivors from Duanhun Cliff return. To protect him, she is willing to spend a thousand years of cultivation; to keep her safe, he dares to enter forbidden ground, burning soul incense and shattering the jade pendant, fulfilling an immortal's promise with a mortal's body.

The town's immortals and demons each have their own personalities: the mountain god who protects the town, the sharp-tongued but softhearted wolf immortal, and the mischievous bamboo spirit all join together to build a wall of protection. From a promise over braised bamboo shoots to the sacrifices made when the earth's ley lines rupture, through laughter, quarrels, and trials of life and death, they embroider their vow of "life after life" into the peach blossoms of Qingshi Town, which never fade. The divide between immortal and mortal and the interference of evil spirits are no match for the words, "I'll wait for you, no matter how many lifetimes it takes."
