There Will Be a Time to Ride the Wind and Break the Waves

When disaster strikes his family, a kindhearted, down-to-earth boy from a mountain village takes on the burden of supporting them. But by the time things at home finally settle down and he can think about getting married, he discovers to his dismay that he is already a grown man, while the girls around him have changed dramatically along with society. Because his family is poor, he is rejected again and again on blind dates. After being hurt time after time, he finally leaves the small mountain village and sets out into a world he knows nothing about. By a fortunate turn of events, he catches the train of progress, rides the waves, befriends books, and finds his own path in life.

Set in the countryside, this realistic novel uses the story of one young man to reflect the many changes brought by rapid social development. When kindness and honesty are no longer enough to get by in society, and morality and money become entangled, how can we stay true to ourselves, be the best we can be, and choose the right road to follow? These are questions everyone should consider deeply. Perhaps you, too, will see your own reflection here.
