Jade Rises in the East

Yikeshan Yilixia, a young Uyghur man from a fourth-generation family of jade craftsmen, is skilled at finding jade but not at carving it. A granddaughter from a Nanjing family of Yang-style carving masters comes to Kashgar, Xinjiang, hoping to find a fine piece of jade for a carving competition. Their fates become intertwined through jade. Yikeshan Yilixia accompanies the pair back to Nanjing, where he grows from an inexperienced young man into a national-level arts and crafts master, wins the competition, and carries on the tradition of jade carving. Through "Passing on Bonds through Intangible Cultural Heritage, Creating the Future of Xinjiang Together," the story deepens ethnic integration and shows the heartening results of enriching Xinjiang through culture, with people-to-people exchange helping build a high-quality Belt and Road.
