Transmigrating Across the Western Tianshan Mountains

This novel is a reimagining based on the story of the construction of the West Tianshan Tunnel, a major project in Xinjiang. Once open, the tunnel will provide a fast route connecting China with Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan, linking eleven important border crossings, including Alashankou, as well as key transport routes into and out of Xinjiang and Tibet. It will help bridge distances, support tourism, safeguard border stability, and promote regional economic development.

The protagonists, Ling Fengxi, Wu Yongjie, Fang Ya, Cheng Yue, and Ayala, are among the main participants in the construction of the West Tianshan Tunnel. As one of the chief officials in charge of the West Tianshan Tunnel project on the Zhaowen Highway, Ling Fengxi is tasked with overcoming every obstacle to achieve the goal. Wu Yongjie, representing the contractor, faces challenges involving technical expertise, harsh conditions, and the accommodation and survival of the workforce. He and Ling Fengxi are friends working hand in hand, but when problems arise, they can also turn against each other. In the end, they see the true nature of the problems and move toward their goal together.

Fang Ya heads the medical team stationed at the site and has a great fondness for Ling Fengxi. She even deliberately applied to lead a team to the West Tianshan Tunnel for his sake. But once she arrives, she discovers that Ling Fengxi is a complete workaholic, and the living conditions are so harsh that she and her team complain bitterly and even consider giving up.

But when she sees Ling Fengxi and his team risk a landslide to rescue equipment, and sees him get injured, she finally understands his resolve. She decides to overcome every hardship and stay at the site, standing with everyone through it all.
