Medical Escort

This book won the Best IP Potential Award at the 2024 Fourth Qimao Chinese Website Realistic Fiction Writing Competition. Patient escorts are a new profession, and this book depicts the daily lives of five of them, focusing in particular on Ji Hong, a poor orphan who graduated from college, and Huang Moshan, a rich second-generation heir. As representatives of the poor and the wealthy, they each bring the distinctive perspective of the post-2000 generation to their work as patient escorts, confronting many personal and social hardships. Their lives are also entangled by a car accident from more than ten years ago. After gaining a profound, firsthand understanding of birth, aging, illness, and death, Ji Hong's outlook is transformed. She opens a nursing home and registers as an organ and body donor. The other three patient escorts also have their own stories, shaped by their very different backgrounds. Their lives intertwine with Ji Hong's and Huang Moshan's, together exploring the human and social dimensions of birth, aging, illness, and death.
