Devour the Immortals!

In the ancient era, the Three Realms flourished. The immortals dwelled high above in the celestial palaces of the Ninth Heaven, claiming to uphold the orthodox Heavenly Dao while siphoning the ley lines of countless clans below and plundering the vitality of the world to sustain the Immortal Court. The suffering of the lower realms became unbearable. Driven to desperation, the myriad clans drew upon the souls of a million living beings and the lifeblood of the ley lines of a thousand mountains to forge a power capable of devouring immortal essence, shattering immortal bones, and reversing the laws of Heaven. The world called it the Power That Devours Immortals. Its emergence shook the Immortal Court. A hundred thousand heavenly soldiers descended with divine weapons to crush it, and the ensuing war engulfed the eight directions and six quarters. The sun and moon went dark, and mountains and rivers crumbled.

In the final battle, seven High Immortals led by the Primordial Immortal Venerable joined forces with the four ancient divine beasts, the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. Using their own souls as the catalyst, they formed the Nine Heavens Demon-Sealing Array and suppressed the Power That Devours Immortals in the deepest reaches of the Guixu Secret Realm. The Immortal Court altered the historical records, branding the power an evil scourge of Heaven and Earth and claiming it would devour the vitality of the Three Realms and destroy the cycle of reincarnation through the Six Paths. They also shattered the key to the secret realm, the Devouring Immortals Map, into seven pieces, scattering them throughout the Three Realms and entrusting them to the descendants of the four divine beasts and the tomb-keeper clan to guard in secret from generation to generation, so that it would never see the light of day.

Ten thousand years passed. Spiritual energy in the lower realms grew ever thinner, ley lines dried up, and the path of cultivation became increasingly difficult as signs of the end of the age of cultivation emerged. The cultivation world teemed with sects, each harboring its own ambitions. The righteous sects sought the Power That Devours Immortals to break through the shackles preventing ascension. The demonic forces hoped to use it to overturn the order and rule the Three Realms. Meanwhile, emissaries from the Immortal Realm secretly infiltrated the lower realms, intent on presenting the power to the Heavenly Emperor to strengthen the Immortal Court's rule. The legend of the Guixu Secret Realm had gone from forbidden tale to obsession for countless cultivators. A storm that would sweep across the Three Realms was quietly brewing.
