One Hand Covers the Sky

In the year of Bingwu, the cultivation world of the Nine Provinces faced upheaval unseen in a thousand years. The Heavenly Dao fell out of balance, demonic energy spread, and the barriers between the mortal and cultivation worlds grew ever thinner. Demons, monsters, and uncanny creatures appeared with increasing frequency, bringing devastation to the people. The Great Qin Dynasty was the mortal world’s only force capable of standing against the cultivation world. Its Demon-Suppression Bureau was charged with defending the realm and slaying evil, but corruption within and powerful enemies without had left it tottering on the brink of collapse.

In his previous life, Shen Changqing was a renowned Demon-Suppressing Celestial Venerable in the Nine Provinces’ cultivation world. Betrayed by his closest friend and cultivation partner, he was framed for colluding with demons and killed by a storm of arrows when the heavenly tribulation struck. When he opened his eyes again, he had been reborn three hundred years in the past as an obscure trainee demon slayer in the Great Qin Demon-Suppression Bureau. He had lost all his cultivation, his body was frail, and all he had were the memories of his previous life and a mysterious token imbued with the power of slaughter. This was his golden finger in his new life: by slaying monsters and evil beings, he could accumulate slaughter points to boost his cultivation, perfect his martial arts, and even reproduce the supreme supernatural arts he had learned in his previous life.

New to the Demon-Suppression Bureau, Shen Changqing used his memories of his previous life to deftly avoid the deadly trap that had claimed his predecessor. On his first demon-slaying mission, he overcame a stronger foe and killed a Nether-grade uncanny creature, successfully activating the mysterious token. He raised the basic martial art Thirteen Guardians Iron Body to the first level, greatly enhancing his physical strength and spiritual power. His performance caught the attention of Chu Jinghong, commander of the Bureau’s Yellow Division. Chu did not promote him at once, but began watching him closely.
