The Demon-Slaying Chronicles!

When Heaven and Earth first formed, pure and impure energies separated. The pure rose to become immortals, while the impure gathered to form demons. Long ago, a great war between immortals and demons swept across the Three Realms. The immortals joined forces, forging the Demon-Suppressing Abyss with their own cultivation and sealing the Demon Lord inside. They then shattered the Demon Essence Jade into seven pieces, entrusting one to each of the seven great orthodox sects to cut off the source of demonic energy’s rebirth. The battle left the immortal sects gravely weakened, and many ancient cultivation arts were lost. The Three Realms returned to peace, which endured for nearly a thousand years.

A thousand years passed. Though the seven orthodox sects remained the pillars of the cultivation world, they had long since lost the glory of ancient times. They schemed against one another or grew lax in their defenses. Beneath the forgotten Demon-Suppressing Abyss, however, demonic energy quietly began to grow. Using the power of his remnant soul, the Demon Lord corroded the seal while secretly controlling the surviving demons, sending them far and wide to search for the shards of the Demon Essence Jade. He sought to break free and restore the glory of the demon realm.

The story begins with an ordinary trial for outer sect disciples of the Qingyun Sect. Lin Yan, a resilient young man of mediocre talent, encounters an attack by demonic cultivators in the trial’s secret realm. At the brink of death, a mysterious power awakens within him, driving off the attackers and leading him to unexpectedly obtain half of a broken Demon Essence Jade shard. The power draws the attention of the sect elders, while the demonic cultivators secretly tracking the jade set their sights on him.
