Defying the Gods

In ancient times, the gods ruled the Three Realms, while mortals struggled to survive like ants. A cataclysm known as the War Against the Gods erupted, leaving the gods dead and the order of heaven and earth in ruins. A thousand years later, all that remains in the world are broken divine prophecies and forbidden powers. Xiao Jin, an abandoned orphan, has the Blood of the Godslayer flowing through his veins. When his memories awaken in an ancient secret realm, he learns that he is destined to become a godslayer. Su Qingli appears to be a refined young lady of a prestigious family, but she is actually an heir to the hidden sect Heavenly Secrets Pavilion, burdened with a prophetic mission to find the Chosen One Who Defies Fate. The two meet amid a pursuit, and their destinies become entwined.

Ye Wuhen, once Xiao Jin’s closest friend, is now a divine servant leading the Hall of Heavenly Punishment in a hunt for those with godslayer blood. Murong Jue schemes behind the scenes, Liu Hanyan uses her medical skills to save lives while harboring a blood feud, and Mo Wufeng forges weapons designed to slay gods. As Xiao Jin and Su Qingli begin to fall for each other, Mu Xueyi, a descendant of the gods, betrays her people after falling in love with a mortal, drawing the three of them into a tangled web of love and hatred. In the final battle, Xiao Jin burns his own bloodline to storm the divine realm. His comrades Luo Xinghe and Han Tianque fall, and Shen Hongxiao dies protecting him. Su Qingli offers her soul to the formation, helping Xiao Jin destroy the God King, but her soul is utterly scattered. Heaven and earth return to chaos. Sitting alone on his throne, Xiao Jin murmurs, “Defying heaven’s will only made me a lone god.” A thousand years later, a newborn’s cry rings out, and the blood-red glint in the child’s eyes shows that the legend of the godslayer lives on.
