The Geothermal Dome

In Tianshui in 2125, 36 “geothermal mushrooms” extract heat from the mantle to power the city, and society is divided into groups such as mushroom technicians and surface-dwelling holdouts. While inspecting the Fuxi Prime Mushroom, junior technician Qin Hongshuo finds an anomaly in an energy conduit. Suspecting it may be linked to his father’s death in an alleged “operational error” years earlier, he begins investigating in secret. He crosses paths with Su Yixuan, daughter of the surface holdouts’ leader. Though they disagree over the geothermal system, they join forces to expose Central Control Bureau Director Liu Mingze’s cover-up of a mantle fissure. When disaster erupts on Geothermal Sacrifice Day, they prevent the AI from taking control and repair the fissure. In the end, they bring the surface and underground communities toward coexistence, revealing the true meaning of living in harmony with technology and nature, and with history and the future.
