"Antony and Cleopatra" is a Roman tragedy written by Shakespeare around 1607. It is derived from "Lives of the Greeks and Romans" written by the ancient Roman historian Plutarch. The play tells the story of one of the three chief leaders of Rome at that time: Antony was obsessed with the beauty of Queen Cleopatra of Egypt and had no time to attend to national affairs. He spent all day hanging out with her in Egypt, drunkenly and dreamily. Later, Rome suffered from the rebellion of Sextus Pompeii, the invasion of pirates, the invasion of the Eastern Parthians, and the news that Antony's wife died because of his failure to challenge Caesar. Finally, he cheered up and returned to Rome resolutely to serve his motherland. Antony then reconciled with Octavian because of the situation and married his sister to consolidate their political relationship. This also made Cleopatra sad and angry. Finally, after all the wars were reconciled and subsided, Anthony couldn't wait to return to the Queen of Egypt. Later, Pompey was killed and his colleague Lepides was deposed, which led to the final confrontation between Antony and Octavian. In the battle at sea, Antony unwisely followed the Queen of Egypt to escape and was defeated, and eventually committed suicide in grief. Cleopatra finally saw Octavian's true face and committed suicide.

This book is a volume in the complete collection of Chekhov's plays. It includes two multi-act plays, "The Forest Man" and "The Fatherless Man", which are representative works of Chekhov's early drama creation. According to research, "The Fatherless Man" was written during Chekhov's university days and is relatively unknown. The script describes the decline of provincial aristocratic estates and depicts the image of a group of intellectuals, represented by the protagonist Platonov, who have nothing to do and spend their days in melancholy. It is the precursor of a series of "superfluous people" characters at the end of the century created in Chekhov's later works. "The Forest Monster" tells a family story centered on a weird-tempered and selfish professor, and successfully created the image of "The Forest Monster", a doctor with unique ideas but not understood by everyone. It is regarded as a "beautiful dramatic novella". The research community recognizes that "The Forest Monster" is the predecessor of "Uncle Vanya" and is an indispensable part of the complete presentation of Chekhov's drama creation.

"As You Like It" is one of Shakespeare's four comedies. It is called Shakespeare's "four comedies" together with "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Merchant of Venice" and "Twelfth Night". It tells the story of Rosalind, the daughter of an exiled Duke, who goes to the forest to find her father in the Ardennes Forest, far away from the world, and her love story. The period from 1590 to 1613 was the golden age of Shakespeare's creation. His early plays, mainly comedies and historical dramas, reached their peak of depth and artistry in the late 16th century. By 1608, he was mainly writing tragedies. Shakespeare advocated noble sentiments, and his tragedies often described sacrifice and revenge, including "Othello", "Hamlet", "King Lear" and "Macbeth", which are considered among the best examples in the English language. Towards the end of his life, he began to write tragicomedies, also known as romance plays.

"The Regiment of Jacques" is a play based on the famous "Regiment of Jacques" peasant uprising in France in the 14th century. The story of the script takes place in Baoaxi. The feudal lord Gilbert da Plemont was so cruel and brutal that the peasants couldn't bear it. Inspired and led by a monk named John, they staged an uprising. They captured Da Plemont's castle, killed the feudal lord, and achieved victory every step of the way. Due to the deception of the feudal rulers and the internal and external attacks of the British rogue army, the uprising failed. Faced with the disaster of failure, the peasant soldiers who lacked consciousness complained that Brother John had led them to a desperate situation and finally killed him. The main purpose of the play is to reveal the people's fighting spirit against the tyranny of feudal lords, to show the inevitability and rationality of the exploited and oppressed people's resistance under feudal violence, and to express obvious sympathy for the people's revolutionary actions.

Paying attention to life and social reality in a critical way reveals absurdities and paradoxes that are different from Kafka's; using the ironclad spirit of intellectuals, he becomes the gadfly of society and the people. Classic plays by Thomas Bernhard, winner of the Lille Patzer Prize, the Austrian State Prize for Literature, the Büchner Prize, the Free Hanseatic City Bremen Prize, the Julius Camper Prize, the Anton Wildgans Prize, and the Franz Theodor Jockol Literary Prize. "The President": Bernhard's classic drama; a mockery of the madness of the world; behind the world is a solid and complex stage mechanism. "Heroesplatz": Bernhard's last play; a play that shocked the world and turned the whole of Austria into a stage. The Force of Habit: Bernhard's first comedy; Hannover Theater Prize, Best Play of the Year in Contemporary Theater; In a world without tolerance, every word is a mantra.

"The Merchant of Venice" is one of Shakespeare's plays. It is extremely ironic and creates a typical image of Shylock, a profit-seeking and ruthless loan shark. The main theme is to praise benevolence, friendship and love, reflecting the contradiction between the commercial bourgeoisie and the loan sharks in the early stage of capitalism, showing the social reality at that time, embodying the pursuit of the value of "people" during the European Renaissance, as well as humanistic thoughts on issues such as money and law. Works by Peter Handke, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature. This book contains Handke's three plays: "The Irrational Man Will Die", "The Moment of Strangeness" and "Planning the Eternity of Life". In "The Moment of Strangers", various characters take turns to appear on the stage. They meet each other in this center, hinder each other, form a group together, and then disintegrate it. In the author's allegorical and allegorical writing, this all-encompassing, strange, and ultimately dark world stage may be a microcosm of the real world that Handke felt. "Irrational People Will Die Eventually" depicts a picture of sentient beings whose minds have been distorted by capital and wealth. "Planning the Eternity of Life" is called "King's Play" by the author. The story takes place in an era "from the last war to the present and beyond" in an embattled enclave that is constantly threatened by war. It is a play with complex character relationships, multi-layered structure and an open ending.

This book is the most familiar love classic among Shakespeare's plays. In this play, Shakespeare highlights the sharp conflict between humanistic ideals of love and feudal concepts and feudal forces. He linked the fate of young people to the safety of the entire city where they lived. The bloody vendetta between feudal families not only caused the love tragedy of young people, but also brought disaster to the city. In the script, themes common in historical dramas condemning feudal disputes and themes common in comedies praising ideal love and friendship appear comprehensively. This is a tragedy, but the whole play is full of rich lyrical color and contains a lot of comedy elements. In the end, the young people's sacrifice brought about reconciliation between the two families and peace in the city. The parents also decided to build a golden statue for them.

Although these three plays have different stories, they all express themes that Chekhov has always been concerned about: he hated the gray people who could be seen everywhere in Russian society at the end of the 19th century, who only used some incoherent empty talk and fantasies about the "future" to enrich their current empty, declining and lazy life.

"Richard III" is a work by the British playwright William Shakespeare. It describes the short reign of Richard III. The play is believed to have been written around 1591. The play is sometimes classified as a tragedy (in the early quartos), but a more accurate classification would be a historical drama, as in the First Folio. The work begins with "Henry VI Part 3" and ends the series of historical dramas that began with "Richard II". This work is Shakespeare's second longest play, after "Hamlet". Since the version of "Hamlet" included in the "First Folio" is shorter than the previous quarto, "Richard III" is the longest play among them. The length of the script is often considered a drawback, as it is rarely performed in its entirety and unimportant characters are often omitted.

"The Divine Comedy" is a long classical poem written by the famous Italian poet Dante for more than ten years. It is divided into three parts: "Inferno", "Purgatory" and "Paradise". This book is the second part. The whole poem starts with the traveler Dante getting lost in the dark forest and tells the story. Under the guidance of Virgil, he travels through the center of the earth, walks out of hell, climbs to the top of Purgatory Mountain, flies through the heavens with Beatrice, and finally sees the Trinity. It is a journey into a wonderland that combines magic, novelty, terror, thrills, and wisdom. The translation of "The Divine Comedy" introduced by Utopia this time is the first complete Chinese translation of the three-rhyme "Divine Comedy" translated into Italian by the well-known Hong Kong translator Huang Guobin for more than 20 years. While conveying the style of Dante's original poem to the greatest extent possible, it also uses encyclopedia-like detailed annotations to help readers clarify the religious changes, mythological allusions and even historical context in the Middle Ages. To appreciate the profound meaning of the Divine Comedy, this volume is enough.

Become a place of love, meet you, and become an opportunity for us to get closer to Rumi and explore our inner self! "There is a place beyond the concepts of right and wrong. I will meet you there. When the soul lies down on the grass there, the world is too full to talk about. Concepts, language, and even the word each other have no meaning." I think the place Rumi is talking about is a non-dual world, transcending all good and bad, right and wrong, right and wrong. In the end, each of us can return there. If you can reach that grassland while alive, it means you are enlightened. There is no need for language because all thoughts, words, each other, etc., Belong to the world of duality. Likewise, joy, sadness, happiness, and sorrow cannot be found there. One day we will all meet there. Before that day comes, let us enjoy the beauty and ugliness, good and evil, right and wrong, good and bad of the dualistic world. Who knows whether impermanence or tomorrow will come earlier.

"The Sorrows of Young Werther" is Goethe's masterpiece. It became popular in Europe as soon as it was published, setting off "Werther fever". Young Werther came to a small town with simple folk customs and fell in love with the girl Lotte at first sight; Lotte also liked him, but she was engaged. Werther fell into embarrassment and pain. He left here, hoping to achieve something in his career so that he could be relieved. The despicable environment and the existing order that suppressed individuality made him unbearable. He then died for love.

Schopenhauer (1788-1860), a German philosopher, the main interpreter of pessimism and irrational impulses, a pioneer of later life philosophy and existential philosophy, an opponent of Hegel's absolute idealism, and claimed to be the sole heir of Kant. It describes the Dante-like world view of suffering in a beautiful style, using "art" as the only "short-term savior" to get rid of the shackles of will. He is cynical due to being ignored by his contemporaries, but he firmly believes that the truth he represents will win in the end. It was not until a few years before his death that his philosophy was valued by the world. This book collects his famous prose works, including "Thinking About Myself", "On Writing and Style", "On Erudition and Scholars", "On Reading and Books", "On Genius", "On Education", "Similes, Similes and Fables", "On the Principle of Ridiculousness", "On History", etc.

"Eugene Onegin" is Russia's first realist work and successfully created the first "superfluous man" image in Russian literature. The protagonist of the work, the aristocratic young man Onegin, lived a luxurious life similar to that of ordinary aristocratic youths. However, under the influence of the atmosphere of the times and the progressive enlightenment ideas at that time, he began to be tired of the empty and boring life of the upper class, and came to the countryside with a desire for a new life, and tried to engage in agricultural reform. However, in the end, Onegin was still in a state of idleness, depression and hesitation, and contracted the typical disease of the times - melancholia. At the manor in the countryside, he became friends with Lensky and his fiancée Olga. Olga's sister Tatyana was simple and passionate. She fell passionately in love with Onegin and bravely wrote to him to express her pure love, but Onegin rejected her. A few years later, at a ball in St. Petersburg, Onegin reunited with Tatyana, who had become the general's wife, and found that he was deeply in love with her. However, Tatyana could not betray her husband. Although she loved Onegin deeply, she still rejected him.

This set of books is the first complete work of Shakespeare in verse in the Chinese-speaking world. The original form of Shakespeare's drama is a verse drama, which is a verse drama with blank verse as its basic form. Translating poetry into verse, trying to make the translation closer to the original appearance of Shakespeare's drama in terms of tone and language rhythm, is the ultimate appeal of this version. This new set of "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" fully absorbs the latest results of international Shakespeare studies, and includes a total of thirty-nine Shakespeare plays (in addition to the traditional thirty-seven, it also includes two plays, "The Two Noblesse" and "Edward III"). The poetry part was only confirmed in the 1980s and 1990s. It is believed that the "Complete Collection" of Shakespeare's long poem "Mourning", with more than 4.7 Million words, can be regarded as the most comprehensive collection, the most sophisticated collation in the entire Chinese-speaking world, and the first poetic Chinese translation of the complete works of Shakespeare that is both academic and readable. The publication of this "Complete Collection" will be of milestone significance. The "Poetry Volume" includes "Venus and Adonis", "The Lost Virginity of Lucrece", "Sonnets", "The Complaints of a Lover", "The Passionate Pilgrim", "The Phoenix and the Turtle Dove", "Mourning" and appendices.

"Memories of Autumn Lanterns" is a prose by Qing Dynasty scholar Jiang Tan reminiscing about trivial matters in daily life with his beloved wife Guan Rong (Guan Qiufu). It is full of elegance, talent, leisurely interest and poetic flavor. The narration of the whole book is vivid, the diction is clear and elegant, and the emotions are pure and touching. After that, Jiang Tan dedicated himself to worshiping Buddha. At the age of 40, his family was trapped in Hangzhou due to war and died of cold and starvation. The sorrow of the impermanence of the world can make people cry. This publication is based on the Qiantang Chiang Chaoyuan publication in the second year of Xianfeng (1852), and is carefully revised with reference to the punctuation typesetting edition of Zhu Jianmang's "Beautiful Literary Masterpiece Series" compiled by World Book Company in 1935. Specially invited Suzhou University teacher and young poet Zhu Yinshan's vernacular translation and annotation, which can be fully understood without any basic knowledge of ancient Chinese. "The Waves" is Woolf's work at the peak of her creative power and was published in 1931. This highly poetic, abstract and stylized experimental work does not have a story in the strict sense, but is more like a musical work composed of nine movements: each introduction is an exquisite prose poem, using the ebb and flow of the sun and waves to correspond to the ups and downs of life; following each introduction are the momentary inner monologues of six highly formalized characters without surnames in their respective life stages - from childhood, studenthood, youth, middle age to old age. The introduction and the main text map each other, opening up unprecedented and nuanced channels for the readers' senses, and getting closer to the essence of life, time, consciousness and feeling to the maximum extent. This is a work that occupies an important position in modern literature and palaces. To this day, it still stirs our souls with its exquisite text structure and poetic style.
