Ahab, the captain of the whaling ship "Pequod", had one of his legs bitten off by the ferocious and clever white whale Moby-Dick during a whaling process. The author gave Moby-Dick the color white to symbolize innocence and terror, and the white whale to symbolize the mixture of good and evil, which is also the basic condition of the human world.
