How to Raise a Delicate Little Bird King

Gentle, doting older daddy x pretty, clingy, spirited little darling (Pei Yingye x Song Weixing)

Song Weixing is a pretty, lively little peach-colored bird, bursting with dopamine-bright colors.

But one day, its home was destroyed, so it set off to find a human Host, carrying a keepsake from an older bird.

Before the older bird escaped, it found Song Weixing a good home.

As long as Song Weixing found that person, it could live the sweet life as a pampered bird.

But Song Weixing found the wrong person.

Song Weixing's mission ended before it had even begun: it flew headfirst into a glass window.

Chirp! That hurts!

A tall, gentle man bent down, wrapped Song Weixing in a soft cloth, and lifted it up.

Song Weixing: Chirp?

Two eyes, one mouth, and he's handsome, too.

Gentle, good-looking, reliable.

Hmm, he seems like the human Host the older bird found for me!

Song Weixing held the keepsake in its beak. Chirp, this is for you!

Pei Yingye: Hmm? For me?

Pei Yingye had heard that birds gave people the things they treasured as a way of showing they liked them.

Seeing the little peach-colored bird suddenly crash into his window and pass out, Pei Yingye couldn't bear to leave it there. He rescued it and took it in.

Song Weixing liked the food Pei Yingye prepared, and liked sleeping in Pei Yingye's bed.

It liked hiding against Pei Yingye's chest and snuggling up with him even more.

A good human, a bird's delight!

But the good times didn't last. The older bird, unable to find a new place to live, came back and ran into Song Weixing again.

Song Weixing's face flushed with excitement. Thank you, senior! The Host you found for me is so nice. I like him!

Older bird: Chirp? I came to tell you about that. He moved away, so do you want to leave with me? The food at his place is delicious!

Song Weixing tilted its head, flapped its wings, and flew back to Pei Yingye's shoulder.

After much deliberation, it plucked the prettiest tail feather from its body and gave it to him.

It said goodbye solemnly: I'm sorry, Pei Yingye. Chirp got the wrong person. Chirp has to go now.

Pei Yingye rubbed the little bird's fluffy head. You got the wrong person? Then what about kissing me and sleeping in my bed? Are we just going to forget all that?

Song Weixing's cheeks turned red. Ah... Th-then what should we do?

Pei Yingye kissed him with a smile, his eyes full of possessiveness. Then you'll just have to stay by my side and keep being my wife.

Pei Yingye: Or do you think anyone else could take better care of you than I can, you spoiled little thing?
