The Dragon-Prince's Fiancée Cultivates the Path of Ruthlessness

Pei Shuoyun was once a genius who looked down on everyone else, until his spiritual roots were completely destroyed and he could no longer cultivate. The praise that had once surrounded him turned into the sharpest, most piercing knives.

He also had a fiancée.

She began gathering qi at five, established her foundation at ten, and formed her core at twenty-three. Born into a prominent clan, she was every inch the favored child of heaven.

People wagered on when his fiancée would come to break off her engagement to the useless wretch, and on what kind of humiliation he would suffer.

But what they heard instead was:

"The Xu and Pei families have been close for generations. Anyone who dares lay a hand on Pei Shuoyun is making an enemy of Xu Qingyue of the Fenyang Xu family!"

After that, the knives ringing in his ears turned back into sweet, soft candy.

Everyone envied his good fortune. A mere childhood betrothal had won him such a gifted cultivation partner, one who would never abandon him. But no one knew that his fiancée cultivated the merciless Great Dao.

He loves all living things and the greater good, but he alone does not love me.

When Xu Qingyue learned he had a fiancé, he was a little surprised. But he was devoted to seeking the Dao and did not want to burden anyone, so he brought generous gifts to the Pei residence, hoping to amicably end the engagement.

When he arrived, he saw:

A cold-faced youth surrounded by people mocking him. His fingers were clenched so tightly that they bled, and deep resentment lay buried in his eyes.

His heart softened.

Mortals live for barely a hundred years. He was willing to let the other man use his name as a shield for a century.

The two made an agreement:

[Once you ascend to the Immortal Terrace, the marriage between our families will be reconsidered.]

He turned and walked into the wind and snow, unaware that the youth behind him was clutching their token, his gaze burning as he watched Xu Qingyue's retreating figure.

The bright moon hangs high in the sky. Unable to bear watching it fall, I can only cross mountains and rivers, through frost, wind, and driving rain, step by step, until I reach the clouds. From then on, year after year, I will remain by the moon's side.
