How to Use a Secret Identity to Deal Out Tragic Endings

Ye Yue Shen was bound to a Knife System. As the name suggests, it was a System responsible for handing out emotional gut punches, with the goal of collecting pain points from the audience. The System gave him several secret identities and sent him to anime worlds to act out all kinds of melodramatic scenarios. These included, but were not limited to, misunderstandings like “because nobody could just say what they meant, the others only realized after their death that they had misunderstood them, and were left with endless regret” and “because they couldn’t express themselves, they instinctively showed affection through contempt, so the person they cared about never learned the truth before they died.” Ye Yue Shen: I know how to do this! You can count on my acting! Full of confidence, he set off Then, before long, the System discovered that the pain points hadn’t gone up at all. Instead, they were plummeting. It quickly checked the data, then returned looking utterly baffled. “Huh? Why are all these viewers saying it’s so sweet and heartwarming?” Ye Yue Shen: ... Ye Yue Shen guiltily looked away. “Maybe their customs are different from ours...” * A new member joined the Detective Agency. He had snow-white hair, a nasty disposition, and a sour look for everyone. He also acted recklessly, relying on the fact that his father was the director of the Special Division for Abilities. Ye Yue Shen: This character is so unlikeable, this one’s in the bag! But the viewers had this to say: [White-haired character fans win big! I could gobble up a kitten like this in one bite.] [I declare tsunderes the best! He acts like he hates everyone, but secretly helps them behind their backs, thinking he’s hidden it well. Then he gets caught and tries to bluff his way out of it. He’s so adorable! Give me a dozen tsunderes like this!] Ye Yue Shen: ??? Wait a second. What went wrong? * The Mafia found someone in an abandoned laboratory. His red eyes were like flowing blood. He couldn’t express his feelings, and treated the people he admired with contempt. Whenever they tried to get close, he drove them away with mocking words. Ye Yue Shen: Surely nobody would go out of their way to get insulted by a character like this, right? The viewers: [Please, that look is exactly what I want. So satisfying.] [Oh my god, I’m melting. He wants to show affection, but instinctively resorts to mockery, then secretly makes that frustrated little face. He has no idea how cute he is when he’s agonizing over it by himself!] Ye Yue Shen, making the old-man-on-the-subway-phone face: ...This can’t be right, can it?? Uh-oh. These people seem to have some kind of weird fetish. * The Decay of the Angels used a book to create a person, but didn’t give him a personality. He went on strike every day. He disliked Sigma, who shared his origins; hated Fyodor, whose personality resembled his own; and despised Gogol, who pursued freedom just like him Most of all, he hated himself. Anything he had in common with himself irritated him beyond belief. Ye Yue Shen changed tactics: This time, I’ll make myself suffer! The viewers: [I take a look after work every day, and my mood instantly improves.] [I thought the angst was about to start, but somehow it just keeps getting funnier. The reason behind his strike is so painfully embarrassing!] Ye Yue Shen: … * System: How’s the mission going? Ye Yue Shen: Great. I’ve already driven the pain points into negative numbers. System: ??? #No romance, identities remain secret #Includes forum posts Serialized stories in the author’s column "Building a Cultivation Association in Yokohama" Chu Jin was bound to a Newbie Secret Identity System. The System brought out the secret identities and placed its hopes in him: [Let everyone learn about the cultivation world! Among them, the [Cultivation Association] was the first to take action. * Sword cultivator: Ji Laizhi The boy, his long hair tied in a high ponytail, brought recruitment leaflets to the technical college to poach new members. “Hey, friend, how about joining our association? We have a harmonious work environment, easy and simple missions, and a very wealthy president, ” “It’s a bright future all the way!!” Gojo Satoru leaned in. “Really?” The boy declared with absolute conviction, “Of course! If I, Ji Laizhi, am lying, may the heavens strike me down!” A month later, Gojo Satoru went to check things out. “...A harmonious environment? Easy missions? Tell me, when are you planning to get struck by lightning?” Ji Laizhi replied, “When I undergo my next tribulation.” Gojo Satoru: ? * Talisman cultivator: Wan Jieming “Cultivation Association?” He slipped a talisman into his bag, pinching it between his fingers and giving it a gentle shake. “Never heard of it. Don’t know it.” This upright talisman cultivator raised his eyes to size up Fyodor. “However, someone did commission me to kill the president of the [Cultivation Association]. If you have any information on him, you can tell me.” “The reward is, ” “I’ll accept your next commission.” * As more and more people from the cultivation world emerged, the major factions began paying attention to them as well. Countless undercover agents infiltrated the [Cultivation Association]. The relationship between the association and the cultivation world was so complicated that there was a minor scandal every three days and a major one every seven. The agents could barely keep up with it all. The cultivation world’s internal forum was also full of discussions: [Why are all those new people acting so suspicious all the time?] [I saw someone sneaking into the library the other day.] [Fellow cultivators, there’s a new scoop! It’s about the president!] [Give me a break. There’s a new rumor about the president every year, and not one of them is reliable.] [Is the cultivation world doomed?] [Doomed for sure.] Amid the sea of information, the undercover agents found what they needed [Complete Record of the President’s Past · Verified☆] * No one had ever seen the [Cultivation Association] president, the center of all the rumors. Hidden behind the vast cultivation world, he moved the pieces on the board without a care. Then disaster struck, and the mysterious president finally appeared He had been right there among them all along. Yet no one had noticed. Chu Jin casually curved his eyes into a smile and raised a hand in greeting. Everyone: “...?!” You’ve got to be kidding! The president of the [Cultivation Association] had been right there among them the whole time? * The System watched the shock points roll in with satisfaction. Then it happened to glance at the backend and was horrified. [Why am I about to overload?!] The System shrieked, [How many secret identities have you made?!] Chu Jin blinked innocently. [Not many.] [Only a little over a thousand.] * #No romance, identities remain secret #There will be scenes where secret identities are exposed Theme: Setbacks are stepping stones to success
