Jiao Wu turned into a goose, the kind in a ring-toss game that's destined for the chopping block.
The good news: He looked so foolish that nobody wanted to try to win him, afraid eating him might lower their IQ.
The bad news: When someone tossed a ring at the goose beside him, he couldn't help dodging.
Rare things are precious, and soon everyone was trying desperately to win him. To avoid ending up on someone's plate, Jiao Wu flung his head around and dodged countless rings.
Just as they were about to close up for the day, Jiao Wu spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.
His sworn enemy, and the person he secretly had a crush on.
Distracted for a moment, he got caught. Jiao Wu was tossed into a cage and cried, "My life is over!" But all that came out was a string of honks.
He didn't want to be eaten. As the cage passed Fu Yan, he had a sudden burst of inspiration, stuck his head out, and bit Fu Yan on the leg!
Young Master Fu's face darkened. After glaring at the goose for a while, he suddenly asked the man running the stall, "Are you selling this goose? I'll pay ten times the going rate."
It dared to bite him? He'd make sure this insolent, clueless goose regretted it!

Young Master Fu is all bark and a soft heart.
On the first day the goose came home, he threatened to stew it sooner or later.
On the second day, he had the servants buy imported goose feed and snacks.
On the third day, he ordered a pile of custom-made pet outfits and dressed the goose up to look gorgeous.
As his affection for the goose grew, Fu Yan held the five-pound-heavier bird and decided it needed a name. With an ulterior motive he couldn't confess, he said, "How about I call you Jiao Wu?"
Jiao Wu had been chewing grass. He stopped and looked at Fu Yan in disbelief.
Wait, what was this guy getting at?!

The way to turn back into a human is to hear your real name called fifty-two times while you're a goose.
Jiao Wu thought this was absurd. Fu Yan might be the only person in the world who would call a goose by a human name. Thinking about it, maybe it was fate.
He counted each time, hoping his sworn enemy would rescue him from this predicament. But then Fu Yan suddenly started calling him "Xiao Wu" instead.
Just as Jiao Wu was racking his brains to make Fu Yan say his real name, Fu Yan got into trouble.
Jiao Wu's underlings cornered Fu Yan on his way home from school and demanded to know what he'd done to Jiao Wu.
Before Fu Yan could answer, a snowy-white shape leaped out. The goose spread its wings and stood in front of Fu Yan, looking ferocious. Anyone who dared touch Fu Yan would get a peck.
Seeing the underlings about to beat up a goose, Fu Yan panicked and shouted, "Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu! Come back!"
Jiao Wu, who hadn't gotten into a fight in ages, ignored him. Then he suddenly heard his full name: "Jiao Wu! Get back here!"
The task was completed so abruptly that Jiao Wu turned back into a human.
Everyone present was stunned. After a long silence, one clueless underling stammered, "Boss, were you... being a goose for your sworn enemy?"
