After Becoming a Concubine in Republican-Era China

[Third-person narration in the main story / No blood relation / Many twists / Not a chaste romance]

1. When I opened my eyes, there was someone in my arms.

I didn't understand. Wasn't I arresting a criminal?

In a panic, I tried to get up, but as soon as I moved, the person beside me frowned and opened his eyes.

His eyes were clouded with tears. Feeling uncomfortable all over, he instinctively curled into my arms and pressed himself close to me.

“It isn't daylight yet. Are you leaving?”

Leaving?

Leaving where?

I followed his gaze toward the window, then suddenly realized that windows like this... weren't from the modern world.

“Stepmother? Why are you just standing there?!”

Stepmother...?

I was the stepmother of the person in my arms?

But my little brother was still inside his body!

2. I suspected I had transmigrated, to the Republican era.

I didn't know the person I had slept beside.

I didn't know the pale-faced person standing in front of the mirror, either.

I was supposed to be Chen Yanyu, a police officer, not Chen Yanyu, the concubine carried into the Dong residence in a sedan chair.

3. I wanted to leave the Dong residence, but first Dong Yuan fell ill.

He couldn't be left alone... especially not by me.

Dong Yuan said I was the one who confessed first.

Dong Yuan said no one in the Dong residence knew about our relationship. They only knew I was the eighteenth wife of the Dong family.

Dong Yuan also said that whenever he fell ill, I would feed him his medicine myself.

Dong Yuan told me many things I didn't know, and I pieced together the original owner's life from them.

I actually wanted to come clean, but Dong Yuan forced himself on me first.

Dong Yuan was soft.

...All over.

Dong Yuan was a very good kisser.

...Like a bewitching spirit.

P.S.

1. They are not related by blood.

2. There is no original owner. It has been the same person all along.

3. One-on-one, both characters' first time, alternate universe.
