[Wind Breaker] Why Does Kaji Do That Every Morning?

I'm an utterly ordinary member of the second-year Multi-Crowd at Furin High School.

Lately, I don't know what's gotten into our grade captain. He seems to have suddenly entered his chuunibyou phase and become obsessed with cosplay. Every morning, he gives himself a new identity.

It started when I was going upstairs one day and saw Umemiya take Kaji's headphones off so he could talk to him. But the moment he took them off, I heard Umemiya confessing his love to Kaji!

And Umemiya's whole look changed, too. That sharp chin could've stabbed someone dead, there were stars in his eyes, and he was all sparkly, like a character from some gag manga I'd seen in a magazine. Who was this guy?

I rubbed my eyes. Kaji put his headphones back on, and Umemiya returned to normal.

Then he took Kaji's headphones off again. Yikes, that was blinding.

The next day, Kaji went to the grade captains' meeting in the morning. When I went along to pick him up, I couldn't find him anywhere, but the ground on the rooftop felt sticky underfoot.

I looked down. There was a puddle of slime on the ground, and it nodded at me.

I screamed and jumped away, then watched them mold the puddle of slime into Kaji's shape!

Fine, you molded him, but why did Kusumi secretly give Kaji a pair of cat ears, too?!

On the third day, I started wondering if something was wrong with Kusumi, too. He was holding hands with Kaji on the way to school, in class, at lunch, while patrolling, and even while chasing after Lisa-chan!

I watched Kusumi get dragged along behind Kaji at high speed and started worrying about his health. But Kusumi typed in midair to tell me he was fine. He hadn't even finished typing when I saw Lisa-chan rake Kaji with a claw, and Kaji started deflating like a popped balloon, going "psss, psss."

Kusumi covered Kaji's wound with one hand and frantically typed at me with the other: "I'm fine! Kaji's the one who's hurt, hurry and find some tape!"

Wait, is this really something you can fix with tape? He's not even human anymore!

This went on for half a month. I was tired.

It was just like watching Groundhog Day for real.

But today Kaji grew a fluffy tail and came to class only to sleep.

I suddenly decided I quite liked days like this.

My name is Kaji Ren, and I'm the grade captain of the second-year Multi-Crowd at Furin High School.

But something seems off with me lately. Every morning, I wake up with three hours of my memory missing.

At first, I thought I just hadn't woken up properly.

Then my friends started asking me how many dried fish they had to give me to earn one tail-stroking session.

I decided either they were the ones with a problem, or I was.

It took a lot of effort, but I finally pried the truth out of Sakura Haruka.

After hearing his description and seeing the video of me with my look suddenly changing, the first thing I asked was who had filmed it.

But when I found out the video had already spread everywhere...

Forget it. I might as well jump in a river.

1. The blurb is told from a bystander's point of view. The main story is probably an ensemble cast centered on Kaji.

2. A lighthearted, slice-of-life comedy written just for fun, with lots of OOC moments. OOC! OOC! OOC! Run! I just wanted to put my favorite character through the wringer...
