Nonhuman Boyfriend

The second collection of short stories about nonhuman beings. The main text is in third person.

Calamity

Three months after a car accident, you wake up to see a handsome face.

Your friends and family keep telling you how perfect your boyfriend is and how devoted he has been to you.

But you know the truth: you haven't lost your memory, and you've never had a boyfriend.

Who is he?

Burial

After a struggle, you finally break free of your obsessive stalker and move to a new city.

The friend who helped you so much online turns out to be cold and distant when you meet in person.

You decide to stop disturbing his life, but the very next day, you receive news of his death.

At the funeral, the man's pale corpse suddenly smiles. That dark gaze, as palpable as a physical presence, pricks your back once more.

Vine

After quitting your job, you have no choice but to stay temporarily in an abandoned old house.

An old man once said that he hoped you would take good care of the flowers and plants there. It was important.

So you don't pull down the vines covering the walls.

At night, a new shoot quietly sprouts and reaches through the window, gently brushing your cheek.

Sleep well. Anyone who tries to harass you will become fertilizer and stay quiet forever.

Debt

Fresh out of college, you rent a very cheap place. The rent is only a quarter of your salary.

But every transfer you send to the landlord gets returned. When you call customer service, you learn that the account was closed long ago.

Over the weekend, he rings your doorbell and tells you that what he needs isn't money, but your body heat.

You work 40 hours a week. For every week you live here, you owe him ten hours.

According to the contract, you belong entirely to him for that time.
