[Fluffy, domineering giant fox x phoenix who wants to breathe fire and protect her people at the slightest provocation]

Ever seen a phoenix that can't breathe fire?

When Xu Yunlai was born, her voice was as low and raspy as an old smoker's. While all the other young half-demons were awakening their powers, all Xu Yunlai could do was flap her arms, clutch at her throat, and cough out two wisps of black smoke...

Because her power took so long to awaken, the birds and beasts would grab her with their sharp claws, carry her into the air, then fling her down for fun.

Xu Chenru, the cheap older brother she'd picked up along the way, only had to fix the intruders with one icy, awe-inspiring glare. The trembling little monsters would gently set Xu Yunlai down in front of him.

"Big brother, I want to learn how to do that!"

"Once I practice a little more, I'll be able to turn a flame into a fireball!"

They were all half-demons without powers. So why were these monsters so afraid of Xu Chenru?

Was it because he was bigger?

Then one day, Xu Yunlai saw him showering in the bathroom, with a two-meter-long tail behind him...

His gaze was inscrutable... There were golden patterns in his pupils, shaped just like the burn marks on her back...

"Mom, your son is a pervert!"

His tail swept her up, and her accusation disappeared into the warmth of his embrace...

"Shh... Where else do you think you're going to run?"
