Blurb:
1.
Death has no accidents, coincidences, or escape.
Those who should have died but survived will eventually be targeted by [It] until they die.
After a war was successfully brought to an end by the Justice League, countless people who should have died survived because of the vigilantes' actions.
There were too many people who should not have been alive, and that meant
"Death is coming."
2.
"Alice? What's wrong?"
Gotham, night, a party.
Iris, who had just transmigrated, jolted awake from a precognitive vision. Remembering the devastating disaster that was about to happen, she was covered in a cold sweat.
"...Death is coming."
"What, darling? What are you talking about?"
There was no time to think about transmigrating; no time to study this strange and fantastical world; no time to deal with the man at her side...
There was only one thing Iris needed to do now:
Stop Death and save people.
There was just one problem. For some reason, Death was too greedy this time. It wanted to kill too many people at once, and Iris couldn't save them all by herself.
Wait, what if someone helped her?
Remembering the person in her vision who had fought with all their might to save others, Iris rushed forward:
"Help me! Bruce, help me!"
"They're about to die. I saw it, "
The man called Bruce looked at Iris in surprise.
Oh, God, not this again!
She must look like some lunatic having a breakdown!
No one had ever believed her outright. They always had to see someone die before they accepted the truth.
She knew it. No one could help her!
But the next second...
"Okay."
The man's deep voice rang out, and for the first time Iris received an answer that affirmed her.
"I'll help you, Alice."
"Now, calm down and tell me what happened."
3.
And not long after
"Death is coming."
"But I'll stop it, every time, just like you do."
Iris Campbell whispered to the Batman beside her:
"Yes, I can and I will!"
"I've decided to become someone like that."
Warnings:
1.
The pairing is with Batman. The heroine has an original boyfriend at the beginning, and they will break up. Both leads have had many relationships in the past.
The apparent age gap between the leads is fake; it's not truly an older man with a much younger wife, though there will be older-younger romance tropes.
Superman and Lois, Dick and Barbara, and Tim and Steph may be mentioned.
2.
I like all the characters. If anyone feels out of character or there's an inappropriate plot point, don't blame the characters; tell me, and if you can convince me, I'll change it.
The vigilantes who appear are all mentors, helpers, guides, and friends on the heroine's path through life and her journey as a superhero.
Any comments hostile to the original characters will be deleted.
3.
The heroine's character and abilities, and so on, are based on the Final Destination series, with personal additions, reinterpretations, and my own take.
She is not the original grandmother! She's a descendant of the grandmother
This isn't an orthodox take on the Final Destination series. There are many horror elements, but not many people actually die.
This is a superhero story about changing the impossible, including the impossible task of escaping Death's attention.
4.
This story focuses on the plot. It's not about saving one another or being saved, just saving people.
(If you insist, it could be called self-redemption, since no one can save others or be saved by them.)
The heroine will save many people, follows a no-killing rule, and will become a superhero.
But she wasn't a good person in the past. After going through a lot, she's simply come to prefer her current choices and way of life.
She'll make mistakes and grow, because she isn't very good at being a hero.
5.
The timeline is very much my own version, and I've brought in all the original events that are useful.
