World Three: The Demon World Coming soon "The Lazy Fish Who Became an Emperor for the Ages" Synopsis: Xie Weishuang was reborn as a puppet emperor. The aristocratic clans had usurped his authority. Powerful ministers ran the dynasty, and emperors died faster than chives could be harvested. Xie Weishuang’s older brother had just been forced to die, and with no one else in the imperial family, the sickly Xie Weishuang was dragged out to become the new emperor. What could he do? Just slack off! He had to choose between abdicating as soon as possible or dying early. Xie Weishuang chose to abdicate peacefully. He just had to act like a useless good-for-nothing. So he took up a love of opera, ingenious gadgets, fine food, and hunting. In short, he did everything a useless, corrupt ruler was supposed to do. He never touched state affairs, handed out lavish rewards at the drop of a hat, and occasionally went on a rampage that left everyone reeling. But as he lazed around, his opera troupe became a spy-training ground; his ingenious gadgets improved farming tools and weapons; his hunting grounds turned into military training grounds; and everyone became utterly devoted to him. Even the little snacks he whipped up on a whim took the capital by storm. What’s more, the powerful minister Shi Fuxuan started looking at him in increasingly strange ways… Help! Why does everyone want to recognize him as their wise ruler? Yet despite Xie Weishuang’s hints, both subtle and blatant, Shi Fuxuan remained unmoved by the prospect of his abdication. Xie Weishuang had another revelation: Did I really have to die? So, three days later, a great fire broke out at Weiyang Palace in the middle of the night. The sickly emperor failed to escape his grim fate, and his body was never found in the flames. Shi Fuxuan, Grand Marshal and Great General, who held the court in his power, turned white-haired overnight, and the throne remained vacant for three whole years. He would believe it when he saw the body. He refused to believe the emperor was dead. The setting sun stained the sky red as Shi Fuxuan, clad in armor, strode over a sea of corpses and entered the emperor’s bedchamber. He knelt on the jade tiles and said softly to the emperor on the sickbed, “The guilty have all been executed. Please, Your Majesty, let me escort you to safety.” A pale hand emerged from behind the bed curtains. Shi Fuxuan raised his eyes. The emperor’s long hair flowed like a waterfall, his clothes in disarray. A single glance was enough to set Shi Fuxuan’s heart racing. [Bonus Scene] Many years later, the emperor’s attendant looked at Xie Weishuang, who had retired to a life of leisure, and said, “Your Majesty, please come back. The Great General and all the civil and military officials are waiting for you.” Xie Weishuang said, “I understand all that, but how did Shi Fuxuan convince the court to go without an emperor?” The chief eunuch was nearly in tears. “Because Your Majesty is the choice of the people, of course!” Theme: Love and peace
