When she started school, Student X looked at her three socially successful roommates and thought her future was going to be rough.
Roommate No. 1 was always on the phone, aloof and arrogant.
Roommate No. 2 was glued to her phone, gentle but distant.
Roommate No. 3 slapped the table and said, “Who needs a mosquito net? If they bite me to death, so be it.”
Roommate No. 4, Student X: ...
A regular anime fan, not born into a Brahmin family, trembled with fear.
Later, Student X realized that first impressions were all wrong.
Roommate No. 1 called herself the emperor of her household, but in private she couldn’t handle a single bad ending.
Roommate No. 2 was a born wage slave. She took the MBTI test three times, and the only thing her results had in common was that she was suited to working.
Roommate No. 3 looked like a socially successful fan of Western media, but was the best in the dorm at wielding the power of the meek. Her biggest question was why people always thought she was a lesbian.
Roommate No. 4: What about me? Where’s my unexpected side?
Roommates 1, 2, and 3: Haven’t you always been an anime fan?
Later still, the whole dorm transmigrated into the world of anime.
Student X wept with emotion: “Is it finally my turn?!”
Roommate No. 1: A fragile, sensitive mama’s girl transforms into a ruthless commander.
Turns out she has a past-to-present transmigration plot and is a true emperor who’s obsessed with modern society.
Roommate No. 2: A humble wage slave suddenly becomes a capitalist, brilliant in both the arts and martial arts.
Turns out she has an infinite-flow plot and is the one big shot who cleared the infinite-flow world and became its God.
Roommate No. 3: A timid, socially successful fan of Western media transforms into an ethereal, enigmatic figure.
Turns out she has a fantasy cultivation progression plot and is a Nascent Soul cultivator who lives by the motto, “Don’t look down on a poor boy in his youth.”
Student X: ?
So, from beginning to end, am I the only ordinary person in the whole dorm?
Everyone: (horrified) An... ordinary person? She must be plotting something again!
Disclaimer: This is unhinged fiction. The dorm is loosely based on mine, but completely altered. The characters have nothing to do with real people. The behavior is meant in jest. Please contact me for removal.
Original work, not a derivative. The author has a strong preference for original canon and does not write fanfiction with original protagonists.
The heroine is on the cover. The character designs for the roommates and male lead are still being drawn. Since everyone’s gone to the anime world, let’s give them all different hair and eye colors.
Warnings:
The heroine is a homebody and an otaku. Don’t use today’s standards to judge whether she counts as an anime fan. Passion is freedom.
The heroine isn’t a good-for-nothing. Her roommates are just so strong that she can relax and slack off without a care.
The heroine is in love with fictional characters; the male lead is a fictional anime character. Plot > romance.
None of the characters are saints. If you meet a man like the male lead in real life, run.
Don’t stir up conflict. One of the reasons I wrote this story is to show that socially successful people and otaku can get along great.
Theme: Passion is freedom.
