Broadway Never Closes! [Western Crossover + Hollywood]

(You don’t need to know anything about musical theater to enjoy this!) Caria Musser, a Victorian-era actress, is reborn in modern-day America a hundred years later. All kinds of song-and-dance shows have evolved into musicals, now the most popular form of live entertainment. Female dancers no longer have to be forced to show their thighs, the audience is no longer made up of drunk slackers, and performers’ wages and benefits are now well protected… Caria is grateful to be reborn. Though this era has inexplicably acquired plenty of aliens, superheroes, and lunatic villains, there’s no doubt it’s a good time to be alive. Reborn as an ordinary orphan in Gotham City, Caria Musser begins to nurture an ambitious dream. Later, her achievements surpass even her dream. She wins all four EGOT awards, becomes a Broadway legend, a leading force in musical theater, the final echo of the Golden Age in the 21st century, and a producer of dazzling genius… And it all begins in a rundown basement in the Lower City. After criminals attack a theater, Caria discovers that several friends she has known since high school are actually members of the Batfamily’s vigilantes! Fortunately, she has her own way of making sense of the world and quickly accepts the truth. The Wayne family: a humorless father, a huge mansion, and seven children with wildly different personalities. Caria: Got it, The Sound of Music! The Batcave: Hidden underground, full of traps, with an underground river you can row through. Caria: Got it, The Phantom of the Opera! Caria: “All the truths of the ages are contained in theater.” Turns out that saying really is right! The heroes: …Something about that doesn’t seem right? Before you read: 1. The heroine is a musical-theater-obsessed oddball. Her love interest is Kon-El (based on the 1998 Young Justice comics and the Superman: Man of Tomorrow animated series, with some original elements). One-on-one romance, though other original characters may have one-sided crushes on her. 2. The story focuses mainly on her Broadway career. The author isn’t an industry professional, so please don’t scrutinize the technical details too closely. 3. Though it’s set in American entertainment, it mainly focuses on the musical theater scene, with little film and TV content. 4. The timeline is partly fictionalized, and some details are made up by the author. 5. EGOT in the blurb refers to the Emmy Awards for television, the Grammy Awards for music, the Oscars for film, and the Tony Awards for theater. Winning all four makes for a perfectly stacked achievement list! 6. I was saddled with a project by the business department that would cost me thousands of yuan in compensation if I delivered even one day late. Then, just as things couldn’t get worse, the company’s equipment broke down and delayed progress. I’m a miserable office worker doing a hellish month of overtime in August so I won’t have to pay the client out of pocket… I’ll do my best to update every other day until the end. I definitely won’t abandon it… Here’s another upcoming novel on the same theme: After transmigrating to Manhattan, New York, in the late 19th century, Alouette finds herself on Broadway. The future capital of theater is just beginning to rise, and ragtime jazz is flourishing. Burlesque shows, vaudeville, and slapstick comedies dazzle audiences, while concert halls, opera houses, and circuses burst with color. The rich stride proudly down the Great White Way, while just a few streets away in Hell’s Kitchen, workers and immigrants struggle to survive. The basement of the tenement is dark and dilapidated. Her parents are dead, leaving her body original with a mountain of debt. She dances twelve hours a day in a saloon and still can’t afford a pair of shoes. The kind landlady tells her to pack up and run while she still can, and find a man to marry out in the country. Former Grammy winner, industry trailblazer, and all-around talent as a composer, lyricist, playwright, and actor, Alouette asks, “Why should I run?” * Nineteenth-century Broadway is a world of extravagance, and outstanding talents emerge one after another. Yet no woman has ever left such an indelible mark on history. From pioneering a new singing style and stunning the industry, to buying a theater and founding a magazine, to establishing theater awards and opening an arts school… Alouette is a legend beyond question. Her works inspire the next generation of playwrights. Her theaters are always packed. Her name will forever have a place in textbooks and history books. People call her The God of Theater.
