On the day Jing Yuan became a disciple of the current Luofu Sword Champion, he had a strange dream.
He dreamed of his future.
His master, who had taught him everything he knew, would become Mara-Struck and grow even more solitary on the already extreme Hunt path.
His close friend, a gifted craftsman who had always treated him wonderfully, would fall under the curse of Abundance, with nightmares and pain haunting him.
The genius pilot who was always joking around with him would die in battle, her good fortune turning into an omen of misfortune.
The Vidyadhara High Elder, who seemed aloof but cared deeply for him, bore a grave sin that even rebirth could not wash away.
From five people down to one, Jing Yuan felt that dream was unbearably long and torturous.
Once you learn what the ending holds, you want to change it. You want to change that so-called course of fate.
Having witnessed them in their glory, he could never want to see them fall.
That was what Jing Yuan thought.
I. Cloud Knights
A young man who cannot hide what he is thinking will eventually let something slip. The future Divine General, renowned for his strategy, was at this point no more than a Sword Champion's apprentice still growing into his role.
"Jingliu says you've been distracted whenever you practice your sword lately. What's going on?"
Bai Heng raised an eyebrow at Jing Yuan, who was sitting there with a serious little face. "Don't keep looking so grim, or you'll end up like Dan Feng."
Dan Feng, who had been dragged into this for no apparent reason: ?
Jing Yuan pressed his lips together. In the end, he didn't say what he was thinking, because he didn't want to ruin this lovely atmosphere.
After deftly steering the conversation elsewhere, he stood apart from it all, his gaze growing ever more resolute.
The future could be changed.
II. General
The boy of old had long since shed his youthful innocence and now stood shoulder to shoulder with his friends.
Every battle was guided by a detailed, flawless plan, conceived by him through days and nights of thought.
It was because he was afraid of losing them that he did so.
The sky was shrouded in shadow, a sea of fire spread without end, and shouts rose and fell all around them. Jing Yuan knew all too well the devastation war brought.
Someone had to deal with the rampaging Abominations of Abundance. He stepped forward, stopping Bai Heng as she prepared to set out.
"Senior Bai Heng, your support is needed elsewhere. Leave this place to me."
"I won't let any of you down."
He went into battle believing he would return victorious.
He saw a blue shooting star flash past in an instant. The Hunt's glance filled him with even greater strength.
"We Cloud Knights are as clouds veiling the sky, guarding and shielding the Xianzhou, never to touch the ground."
"I've said it before: there is no such thing as fate. Everything is written and defined by our own hands."
He was called Jing Yuan, the Divine General of today and one of the High-Cloud Quintet.
Reader's Guide:
1. This is a Jing Yuan-all story. The main story includes Jing Xing and Jing Feng, while the side story includes Jing Yan, with Jing Yuan's self-pairing added. The bonus chapters have their own settings and feature Jingliu and Bai Heng as friends.
2. The battle against the Emanator of Abundance is set up like Feixiao's: he receives the Hunt's glance and gains a separate power drawn from the General's inherited strength.
3. There may be OOC moments. The author's writing is amateurish. In this story, Jing Yuan's precognitive dreams only cover major events. The blurb will be updated as the story progresses and is not fixed.
4. The cover is a gift from Yilaosi. Many thanks.
