[Updates at 12:00 noon. Coming soon: The Abandoned Caged Bird. Blurb below. Please add it to your reading list.]
Blurb: Wu Rui is fair-skinned, beautiful, clever, and well-behaved. His family cherishes him like a precious jewel, afraid he might break if they hold him too tightly or melt if they keep him in their mouths.
But everything changes two years after he is abducted at the age of five and rescued.
A boy named Wu Jingxia joins the family.
-
The year Wu Rui was abducted, the Wu family adopted Wu Jingxia from an orphanage. His father says Wu Jingxia gave the police a lead, allowing them to find Wu Rui so quickly.
The Wu family are kindhearted, so they take in Wu Jingxia, who had been an orphan.
-
Two years of abuse make up nearly a third of the life of a child who is not yet seven.
Thin as a skeleton, covered in bruises, with a bandaged head wound, Wu Rui stares in confusion at the home that once belonged to him.
His walk-in closet has become Wu Jingxia’s room, and the playroom has become Wu Jingxia’s music room.
His loving mother personally cooks Wu Jingxia’s favorite dishes.
His strict father smiles as he helps Wu Jingxia with his homework.
His walk-in closet, his playroom, his father, his mother, his big brother…
None of them belong to him anymore.
-
After being reborn, Wu Rui avoids the kidnapping, but Wu Jingxia is still adopted. Looking at the parents who aren’t his, he resolves to leave this family.
-
And so Wu Rui’s parents discover that the child they love most has changed.
-
He Si meets Wu Rui by chance.
At five, he happens to see Wu Rui crying at a banquet. In elementary school, he happens to become Wu Rui’s deskmate. In middle school, he happens to end up in the same class. In high school, he happens to see Wu Rui arguing with his older brother…
He Si raises an eyebrow. “Wu Rui, is that your brother?”
The quiet, cool-looking boy beside him, who seems harmless, turns away without a hint of regret.
“No.”
The person left behind freezes in place.
He Si, who has no idea how cutting his words are, shrugs and strides after Wu Rui.
“You did that on purpose,” Wu Rui says.
Of course he did. How else could he stand up for Wu Rui?
“Didn’t you answer pretty quickly, too?” He Si smiles.
Wu Rui doesn’t answer. He Si watches him quietly.
Wu Rui is so mean.
He likes him like this.
One-on-one, happy ending.
A brooding, wicked catlike bottom × a top who “will always enable Wu Rui, no matter what he does”
Reading notes: 1. The story now has a rebirth setting, so there will be less angst. His parents and brother will gradually remember their past lives, too.
2. Extreme character-control readers, please don’t read.

The Abandoned Caged Bird
Blurb: When the apocalypse arrives, Xue Man, who has no special abilities, becomes the dead weight everyone despises on every team.
Because Xue Man refuses to trade on his looks for supplies, no matter how hard he works or how filthy and exhausting the jobs he takes on, people still mock him as a useless, ability-less pretty face.
Afraid of being kicked off the team, Xue Man is careful not to fight back. He can only submit to other people’s insults and bullying.
But in the end, the team abandons him anyway.
The captain, who has always been somewhat kind to him, still feels a little sorry. “I’m sorry. Maybe you’ll be born into a better life next time.”
Ruined buildings surround them, flames soar into the sky, and Xue Man is left alone among a horde of zombies, with nothing but a flimsy door between him and them.
The zombies’ growls as they smell blood pierce his ears. Dragging his injured body, Xue Man struggles to his feet, tears streaming down his face.
Why? Why can’t he survive, even after trying so hard?
Through tear-blurred eyes, he sees a man descend from the sky, draw his blade, and kill every zombie before holding out a hand to him.
“Your name is Xue Man? Get up.”
From then on, Xue Man has someone willing to give everything for him.
He no longer has to do filthy, exhausting work or endure people’s ridicule. He always has the best supplies.
Everything is so perfect it feels like a dream.
…
Yuan Zhouhe is a quick-transmigration tasker. After completing 99% of his missions, his final task is to save a brooding villain.
But an error occurs while the System transfers him, leaving him with only partial information. All he knows is the name of one mission target.
Xue Man.
A year later, the System finally comes online and tells him he saved the wrong person.
-
“That’s what happened.”
Yuan Zhouhe looks at Xue Man’s pale face. “All of this is for you. It should be enough for a while.”
Faced with such a melodramatic turn of events, Xue Man is as still as a frail plant. He curls his fingers slightly. “Okay. When are you leaving?”
“Tonight,” Yuan Zhouhe says.
-
When they meet again, Xue Man, covered in injuries, sees Yuan Zhouhe standing beside someone else.
Yuan Zhouhe has found his real mission target.
Xue Man has truly been abandoned.
The strongest fighter, a master of cold weapons, top (Yuan Zhouhe) × the most beautiful bottom (Xue Man)
[Reading notes]
1. A coming-of-age story. The bottom is a pitiful underdog, but he strives to improve and won’t depend on the top forever.
2. A melodramatic groveling-and-winning-back-your-lover story. No switching tops. Not suitable for extreme character-control readers.
3. Both leads are each other’s first and only. The top is devoted to the bottom in both body and heart.
Theme: Eat well and live healthily
The whole book feels like Wulin is really miserable. . . The most pitiful person, the most neglected person [covering face, laughing and crying]
My brother is so pitiful, and he can't express himself well in sign language.
These two chapters were heartbreaking to read. I hope that Xiaoniao can be stable and happy in this life, but I also hope that my brother can get his own salvation in this life.
I hope I can make it clear to my brother that everything is due to my parents' inaction and it is not my brother's responsibility to bear this responsibility.
The adjective "Leech" is very fitting.
Wu Rui was finally reborn with her adoptive parents, loving friends and company. What did Wu Lin do wrong? It makes me suffer from heart attack, Wulin is the worst
You two poor little guys, please tell me now.
Oh, he has grown up too😆
It's great to be able to talk openly [Maotou] Wu Jingxia, how can you hurt the dean's aunt's heart!
Wu's parents are finally sober. I really can't survive these two 😂, but I have to go back to school again. I'm so sad 😭
