From the Start, I Was in a Mass Grave, but I’m a Necromancer

The great necromancer Jian Ye is reborn in the body of an utterly useless cultivator who had their golden core dug out and was left to die in a mass grave.

Faced with a mass grave swept by icy winds, filled with resentment and baleful energy, and echoing with wolves' howls,

Jian Ye: It feels just like coming home.

Jian Ye renovates the mass grave and turns it into the cultivation world's first necromancer sect, truly proving that even the dead have to go to work.

A sect can't have disciples without elders and instructors.

To put the sect on the right track, Jian Ye tearfully bids farewell to their beloved family and leaves the mass grave with a pack on their back. They sneak into various sects under the pretext of reading feng shui, dig up their ancestors' graves, and poach their talented disciples.

The major sects are all but ready to put up signs at their gates: Jian Ye and dogs are not allowed inside.

Blacklisted by all the sects, Jian Ye has no choice but to hide their identity and set out on a journey, traveling everywhere to recruit suitable spirits.

Along the way, Jian Ye casually saves a young man named Feiyu. Deeply moved, Feiyu insists on traveling with Jian Ye.

Jian Ye has to carefully disguise the fact that they're wanted by all the major sects, so they don't frighten their companion.

Demon Lord Feiyu has wanted to seize Jian Ye's body, brimming with spiritual energy, for a long time.

He deliberately waits for the right moment, pretending to be badly injured as he collapses to the ground.

Jian Ye falls for it and saves him.

After Feiyu spends a long time caring for and protecting Jian Ye, Jian Ye has let down their guard.

Seeing that the time is ripe, Feiyu prepares to make up an excuse to lure Jian Ye into the mountains and seize their body.

Feiyu: "I want to avenge my deceased parents."

Jian Ye performs a necromantic spell: "I'll go with you, along with your deceased parents."

Feiyu: ?

Oh no, I've tricked a necromancer.

Reader's note: In my version of the cultivation world, there are no ghost cultivators. Ghost cultivators are beings that have escaped death but are neither human nor ghost. The undead are the true spirits.

Theme: People and nature are inseparable. How you treat nature is how nature will respond to you.
