I'm a Cultivator in the World of Detective Fiction and the Most Popular Character in the Manga

Scotland met Bie Lin while on a mission.

The young man, not quite grown, dragged his lame leg along and clutched his growling stomach as he stared intently at Scotland.

"Sir, your forehead is clouded with misfortune. I have a talisman here that can help you get through this calamity..."

Moved by compassion, Scotland bought Bie Lin's talisman, hoping the young man could afford a proper meal with the money.

A few days later, Scotland saw "Xifeng Liquor" Bie Lin appear at the Organization, recommending his talismans and elixirs to the others there.

Scotland: ...

The winery crew didn't take Bie Lin's talk of cultivating immortality seriously. They assumed he was just another little con artist, and the Organization had plenty of those.

Later, after Scotland's identity as an undercover agent was exposed, he used Bie Lin's talisman to teleport away.

The winery crew: He was for real?

During a clash between the FBI, the Public Security Bureau, and the Organization, all three sides pulled out the Thunder Talismans they'd bought from Bie Lin, hoping to give their opponents a little shock.

Akai / Morofushi / Gin: "Didn't that kid say he was only selling them to me?!"

Just as the organizations thought that having Bie Lin's help would make the Organization even harder to eradicate, Bie Lin swung his sword and split the Organization in two.

The undercover agents: ???

Bie Lin held his sword, looking utterly innocent. "Gin said he wouldn't pay me next month."

An organization that doesn't pay its employees expects to keep existing? Hah. Keep dreaming.

The new character who appeared in the remade manga Red and Black sparked heated discussion among readers.

Bie Lin, the new character, was a lame-legged boy with a tragic past.

A little con artist who claimed to be an immortal cultivator, selling his talismans and elixirs to the main characters just to afford a full meal.

Even the cheapest soba noodles in a noodle shop were enough to bring a satisfied smile to Bie Lin's face.

Readers couldn't help but feel for this new character, and even voted him into first place on the popularity chart.

As the story progressed,

the members of the Bomb Disposal Unit who had taken Bie Lin's elixirs in advance survived; Scotland, whose identity as an undercover agent had been discovered and who was about to be surrounded and forced to commit suicide, was teleported away by Bie Lin's talisman; and Bie Lin split the Black Organization in two with one sword stroke.

...Wait, what? Bie Lin really is an immortal cultivator?! He wasn't a con artist after all!

An immortal cultivator in the world of Detective Conan?!
