Building a Harmonious Magical World [Western Fantasy]

[Chapter comments are open, with no restrictions at all. Hope you have fun, cuties w] The village of Kano was quiet and peaceful in the early morning. Sunlight streamed through a chipped corner of the glass window and fell across the white quilt, which was piled up like a cocoon. “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” “What! What was that!” Violet jolted upright, staring in alarm at the thick, fluffy quilt draped over him. Once he realized what had happened, he clutched his chest and lay back down. It turned out that the System, called “The Great Mage Growth Plan,” had just played a recording of a rooster crowing beside his ear to tell him it was time to get up for his morning exercises. Ha... He hadn’t been dreaming. He really had died and come back to life. In his previous life, he’d worked himself to death for money. Now, in a world of swords and magic, he had to become a workaholic all over again. Violet could only comfort himself with the thought that magic was far more interesting than all that work. If he was going to do it, he might as well be the best. After two years of cramming from scratch for the “college entrance exam,” Violet earned the top score and was admitted to the highest-ranking magic and martial arts academy in the Snot Empire. He became the academy’s top student, made many friends, and found a partner who would be at his side for years to come. Except his partner... The silver-armored knight, with golden hair and blue eyes, knelt on one knee. He placed both hands in Violet’s and gazed at him with burning intensity. “I swear by the ley lines of the earth and sky that I, Silfans Bradley, will protect Mr. Violet forever, safeguard your safety and honor, and fight and toil for you, even at the cost of my life... Mmph?” Violet clapped a hand over his mouth in time, successfully interrupting the spell. “Please, let’s not tempt fate like that.” Silfans: “?” The hottest topic at the academy this month: [What do you think a great mage worthy of respect should be like?] One response from the magic message board: “They should have a noble and illustrious background, extraordinary talent beyond the reach of ordinary people, the noble character to impart knowledge to humanity without reservation, and the lofty ambition to strike down the demon race with their staff.” Violet closed The Academy Monthly, Issue 106. “Thanks for asking. I have none of those qualities except the last one.” Silfans: “Really? I think Mr. Violet fits every one of them.” Violet: “Flattery won’t get you any extra cookies with afternoon tea.” Silfans: “I’m not flattering you. I mean every word.” There was an extra plate of cookies at the Violet family’s afternoon tea. *The author has a day job, so this story usually updates after 11 p.m. If you’re following along, feel free to read it the next day! If there’s a day when I can’t update, I’ll post a notice before 11 p.m. *This is a one-on-one romance: a golden-haired, blue-eyed knight as the pursuer and a black-haired, green-eyed mage as the pursued. Pure-love warriors, assemble! *The protagonist grows stronger over time and learns magic from scratch. The System’s assistance is limited, and it has very little presence. It occasionally assigns a quest and sends over some supplies. Since the Host is so proactive about working hard, the System feels like it’s getting carried along for the ride. *I hope to create the magic-filled world I imagine, and a magical story you’ll enjoy. I focus on plot, and I’m working hard to improve my romance writing. The worldbuilding will be complete, and this will be a long story. *Please don’t mention this story under other works, and please don’t mention other works under this one. Unless there are common triggers, issues of principle, or factual errors, I won’t make changes after explaining my choices. People have different opinions, and it isn’t so hard to agree to disagree.
