When the world finally knew peace, the great mage Sylvius, who had fought on the front lines, joined the "Postwar Recovery Initiative."
Healing from the wounds of war would take time, and Sylvius believed nothing could soothe the heart better than good food.
So the great mage used magic to hide the long ears unique to his elven heritage and turned his sandy-gold hair black. Taking the name Sivir, he chose a small town he had never visited on his adventures and opened a restaurant called Happy Eats.
"Welcome, welcome!" The wooden bird hanging by the door sensed a customer approaching and chirped out a spirited greeting.
The warmly welcomed customer stepped inside. The cozy, forest-themed shop, decorated to suit elven tastes, held a few tables and chairs. Behind the counter facing the entrance sat a single handsome man with black hair and blue eyes.
Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass window behind him, draping him in a cloak of color.
When the beauty saw his customer, he smiled brightly, his blue eyes curving gently as they shimmered.
"Welcome! Would you like to try today's special?"
Blinded by that beautiful smile, the customer asked in a daze, "What's in the special?"
The beauty's smile grew even brighter. "The eyeballs of a magic-eye spider. Very nourishing!"
"...Huh?"
A few days later.
Notis, now a regular, came by the shop at night.
Notis: "You weren't open during the day. Did something happen?"
Sivir smiled, poured him a cup of berry juice, and set it in front of him. "I went shopping for supplies. Thanks to you spreading the word at the Adventurers' Guild, I've had so many customers lately that I'm running out of ingredients."
Notis: "Next time, you can ask me to come along. Ahem, I mean, I'm pretty strong. I can help carry things back for you."
Sivir: "Sure. Thanks."
A month later, Sivir went shopping for supplies again, and Notis tagged along.
Notis: "...When you said you were going shopping, you meant hunting monsters in the forest all by yourself?"
Sivir smiled and cast a high-level spell, wiping out every monster in the cave. "This way, the ingredients are free."
The owner of Happy Eats had a famous saying: "There are no monsters that can't be made delicious, only chefs who don't try hard enough."
* A scheming elven archmage x a warmhearted, straightforward adventurer
* In this story, every monster has a way it can be cooked. There are no ugly monsters that ruin your appetite just by thinking about them!
