Short story, tragic ending
They met amid cicada calls and parted beneath falling snow.
Since becoming a doctor, Fu Wenxin had never met a patient as difficult as Luo Qi.
He was clearly a terminal cancer patient, yet he always had a smile on his face. He loved gazing at Fu Wenxin with bright eyes and saying earnestly, "Doctor Fu, I really like you."
After chemotherapy, he would droop his brows and act spoiled. "Doctor Fu, my back hurts. Could you rub it for your patient?"
Over time, Fu Wenxin grew used to the troublesome guy's presence. Later, he could only watch as all his medical skill failed to cure him, and Luo Qi gradually grew cold in his hospital bed.
Medicine isn't omnipotent. He isn't a god and can't save everyone, let alone the person he loves.
He couldn't bear it any longer and finally admitted his overwhelming love, instead of pretending it was a doctor's sympathy for a patient. "Luo Qi, I'll join you in writing the sequel to your life. If you leave, I'll stop acting."
They had shared moments of passionate intimacy and watched the first snow together.
Later, Luo Qi really did leave. As he went, he said, "Doctor Fu, I'm sorry I selfishly brought you into the little bit of life I had left, but I don't regret it."
Afterward, whenever a suitor wouldn't leave him alone, Fu Wenxin would smile faintly and say, "Sorry, I have a partner. He's quite a handful."

See my profile for the upcoming story, My Moonlight Always Wants Me to Take Him Back.
A country boy who transforms from a dark-skinned nobody into a devoted CEO seme × a doctor who is tough-talking but soft-hearted uke
Five years later, Wen Wen ran into his moonlight, his former boyfriend and now ex-boyfriend twice over, at the earthquake relief site in Shuixi Village.
Nurse Cui looked at the fair-skinned man in a suit at the disaster site. "Doctor Wen, isn't that the country-boy ex-boyfriend on your phone's lock screen?"
Wen Wen calmly flipped through the documents. "You've got the wrong person. My guy's a coal briquette spirit."
That night, the man cried outside his room, then stubbornly insisted he hadn't cried.
A few days later, he came to Wen Wen's room again, looking pitiful. "I know. Your British ex-boyfriend has eight-pack abs and a good education. I'm the only ex-ex-boyfriend who checks your social media every day and pretends to be dead. I've been the coldest ex for five years."
_
Five years ago, Zhou Sheng was as dark as a coal briquette, while Wen Wen was like a tender, delicate white water bamboo shoot. One was a poor country boy, the other a rich young master from Shanghai. They were worlds apart, but still fell in love. A year later, they broke up.
Wen Wen felt that Zhou Sheng always put him last. The villagers, his family, even a cow mattered more to him. Family responsibility came first, and he didn't even have the courage to go to Shanghai with Wen Wen. After their breakup, Wen Wen resolutely went abroad for five years and even dated a man of Chinese descent.
Five years later, the coal briquette had turned into a CEO. When Zhou Sheng learned Wen Wen had broken up, he clung to him like a puppy and begged to win him back. Then Wen Wen's British ex-boyfriend suddenly showed up at the disaster site, and the two men faced off in a tent.
The Chinese-descended doctor said elegantly, "I'm Wen's ex-boyfriend. I came back to China to win him back."
Zhou Sheng said, "I'm Wen Wen's ex-ex-boyfriend. Now that we've met again, I'm going to win him back."
The ex-boyfriend scoffed. "I'm the ex-boyfriend. If we're getting back together, I should be first."
Zhou Sheng: "I dated him before you. If we're getting back together, I should be first."
So the ex-boyfriend and the ex-ex-boyfriend both began pursuing him. Zhou Sheng was so clumsy at romance that he learned a cheesy pickup line and tried it out.
Zhou Sheng's eyes glistened. "Doctor Wen, I've booked surgery for the day after tomorrow..."
Wen Wen tensed. "What surgery?"
"A heart transplant." He took Wen Wen's hand and pressed it to his chest. "You've lived here for five years. It's time to return what's yours."
