[Historical Crossover] The Only Child

Blurb: The Underworld has opened a new department to address the problem of how to keep worlds derived from films and novels going. Some derivative worlds gain energy from the main world through their authors' creations and gradually take shape. Once their stories reach their conclusions and the worlds can continue in a reasonable way, they have the chance to become stable parallel worlds, helping ease the Underworld's population pressure. But some works are abandoned midway, end badly, or are so riddled with logical inconsistencies that they simply cannot hold together. The new department's job is to enter these worlds and either complete their plots or straighten out their logic, allowing them to run independently and eventually become normal worlds. The first batch of assignments all involve fan works based on historical settings, since they can draw more energy from the main world, and do so more steadily. The Underworld puts out a broad recruitment call across the netherworld. Before long, the application office is packed with ghosts hoping to land a permanent position. #If you couldn't get a government job in the human world, try for one in the Underworld# #I'm not obsessed with being an official. I just want to contribute to the Underworld# The Ghost Kings who passed the preliminary screening look at the department's permanent-position exam and all wear the same baffled expression: Why are all the questions about becoming sons to emperors and princes with no heirs? Are authors in later generations really that fond of having children? And if they had children, why did they only have one? Before the exam: What kind of ridiculous setup is this? During the exam: An only child? That's the life! * This story could also be called The Years I Spent as an Only Child. Each volume has a different protagonist, and their fathers include: The incorruptible Prince Yin Si Ming Emperor Wuzong, Zhu Houzhao Song Emperor Zhezong, Zhao Xu Jin Emperor Jing, Sima Shi Han Emperor Cheng, Liu Ao P.S. Since the fathers and protagonists have different personalities in each world, there may be loving fathers and filial sons, or fathers who resign themselves to their fate while their sons laugh. Theme: Establish our hearts for heaven and earth, and our lives for the people.
