Ranking the Ten Greatest Poets of Ancient Times

[After some controversial historical figures appeared, their fans and haters fought in the comments, which disrupted other readers' experience. So comments have been turned off. Love and peace~] Gu Qingqing, a video creator on a Chinese video-sharing site, woke up one day to find she'd acquired a Myriad-Dynasties Video System. The videos she made would be broadcast throughout the Myriad Worlds, across countless historical dynasties. That day, in countless parallel worlds derived from history, curtains of water suddenly appeared in the sky. An “immortal” in White Jade Capital cast a spell to record images and sent down a video. The first video, *The Ten Greatest Poets of the Tang and Song Dynasties*, ranked the most celebrated figures of the Tang and Song eras! Du Fu: Li Bai will definitely make the list! Li Bai: I love Master Meng, whose fame and grace are known throughout the world. Li He: “To repay your kindness at the Golden Terrace, I'll take up my jade-inlaid blade and die for you.” What a joke! Su Shi: “When will the bright moon appear? I raise my cup and ask the blue sky.” I wonder if there's a place on this list for me? Zhu Yuanzhang: Who says I can't write poetry? One crow, one kick; two crows, two kicks! Don't you know the vulgar can be sublime? Qianlong: I am the Old Man of Ten Complete Perfections. No one in two thousand years can compare! I've written forty thousand poems in my life, enough to rival the entire Tang Dynasty. If this list weren't limited to the Tang and Song, my poems would certainly be on it! After a roundup of China's most beautiful poetry, all sorts of videos began airing one after another. !*One Poem Outshines the Entire Tang Dynasty* The poets of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai among them: “???” *One Lyric Outshines Both Song Dynasties* The lyricists, Su Shi among them: “???” *Why Is Qianlong the Students' Favorite Poet?* Qianlong: “Hahahaha! Just as I thought. I really am that talented.” Pre-orders are open for another upcoming novel in the same series: *Historical Livestreams: Starting with the Ten Great Talented Women*. [Updates around 10 p.m. If there's no update, I'm still writing, so please wait a little longer. Note: ① Poetry is used in its broad sense here, including shi, ci, and qu, so the ten great poets include both poets and lyricists. ② This is a self-indulgent work. Characters may be out of character, and there are plenty of invented details. This isn't a historically rigorous work, so please proceed with that in mind. ③ There's no definitive ranking in literature, unlike in martial arts. The rankings of poets in this story are subjective, and they serve the plot by making it more complete. Every reader has their own rankings, so you can also consider the rankings in this story to be unordered. ④ The first chapter already says that [the videos draw on official histories, unofficial histories, poetry, biographies, and other sources]. To avoid forgetting to mention this later, here's a summary in the blurb: All classical poems and passages mentioned in this novel are quoted. The historical facts explained in this novel mostly come from library books and online sources. Biographies and other historical background draw on reference materials such as *History of Song*, the New and Old *Book of Tang*, various biographical sketches, Baidu, Wikipedia, academic papers, and more.
