Xuanji Immortal Venerable was a once-in-a-generation genius, and the one with the best chance of glimpsing the Great Dao and ascending to immortality. When he hit a bottleneck in his cultivation, he cast off all his dark sides and negative emotions, and they formed a heart demon.
And, just his luck, Chi Yun transmigrated into that heart demon.
If the Immortal Lord succeeded in breaking through, he would inevitably absorb Chi Yun as his heart demon. Chi Yun really couldn’t bring himself to hurt anyone, so to stay alive, he had no choice but to cause trouble and try to shake the man’s Dao heart.
He would pretend to be a child and ask the Venerable to help him get dressed; curl up in the Venerable’s arms while he meditated and wheedle him into playing; and, while the Venerable was slaying demons, casually draw all sorts of strange creatures over, then hide behind him and beg for help with a pitiful expression.
But when real danger came, he still chose to vanish, willing to disappear if it meant helping the Venerable break through.
When he regained consciousness, he heard that the man who should have ascended without a hitch had gone mad.
They said the Venerable slaughtered a hundred thousand demons in a single night, with methods more bloody and cruel than the Demon Lord’s, striking terror into everyone; they said he cut open his own skin every day to nurture demonic energy inside his body, enduring bone-piercing agony night after night as he soaked in demonic water; they said he used brutal means to seize precious treasures everywhere, all to preserve a cold corpse.
Everyone said Xuanji Immortal Venerable had failed to ascend and fallen into demonic ways.
Only Chi Yun knew he was waiting for a wicked heart demon.
Knowing that being recognized might lead to things he couldn’t handle, Chi Yun hid everywhere with concealment talismans and human-skin masks. Even so, the man, whose aura was on the verge of collapse, cornered him against a wall.
Chi Yun cowered like a little dog, his gaze timid. There was no way. Everything about me is different now.
Even my aura.
The red-eyed man raised a hand to his chest and rasped, “In here are one of my soul fragments, a wisp of my divine sense, half my cultivation, and... all my longing.”
Chi Yun couldn’t bear to hear such things. He lowered his head, his face and neck turning bright red.
How was that any different from saying, “You belong to me”?
This man... how could he say something like that? How was Chi Yun supposed to run away now?
