As an Avid Fanfic Reader, I Took Over a Corrupted Honmaru

Meguro Haru, a fanboy who'd read all kinds of fanfiction about sword boys going dark, finally got his own corrupted citadel today.

Congratulations, congratulations! Just kidding...

So why had his ordinary, peaceful life suddenly taken a turn into that of an unemployed young man burdened with debt? This wasn't some Korean comic about becoming a hunter after going into debt...

Anyway, Meguro Haru took over a corrupted citadel and firmly said yes to the high salary on offer.

Having read fanfiction for years, he knew what came next: an attack the moment he walked through the door, followed by suspicion, wariness, mistrust, tests, assassination attempts, and so on. With love, confidence, courage, wisdom, and justice, he would eventually reach a happy ending.

But reality wasn't a game. Looking at the citadel, where he couldn't even put together a full squad of sword boys, Meguro Haru began to have serious doubts.

The battle-crazed Kashuu and Yamatonokami, who only cared about sortieing.

Shokudaikiri, who'd turn into a gloomy mushroom if nobody praised him.

Heshikiri Hasebe, who'd shed manly tears whenever he got worked up.

And...

"This isn't right. Our gacha game isn't supposed to be like this..." Meguro Haru held his head and let out a small, helpless cry.

"My lord."

Just then, Meguro Haru felt someone gently poke him. He looked up and saw Tsurumaru, who'd climbed into his bed on the very first night, intent on starting a romance.

For the 168th time, Meguro Haru felt that his citadel was beyond saving.

Within the government, Citadel 10086 was regarded as a special corrupted citadel. All the swords there were "defective" and didn't meet the requirements.

Until one day, a saniwa codenamed "Riqing" took over the citadel.

Before long, tales of the great demon king began circulating in the practice grounds and on the forums.

* My headcanon is extensive, so some out-of-character moments are inevitable.

* There's a reason the sword boys have turned out this way. It'll be revealed later.

* Overall, this is a story about healing each other.
